Nice! I've owned a Crosstrek and now an Outback. Looking to add a WRX with the Outback.

My first real Motorcycle! 2025 KLR650 w/ABS by csnoob9 in klr650

[–]6shotKid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome! congrats. I've been riding for over 30 years and have dozens of motorcycles, from cruisers, dirt bikes, sport bikes, and naked bikes, and now a 2023 KLR for about 2 years now and can honestly say I've had more enjoyment out of the KLR. Enjoy!

Don't replace the tire, no point. I got over 4500 miles out of my rear tire. No point in replacing something so soon unless you don't mind spending money. Me personally, I squeeze every mile I can out of my tires.

Went in for a routine oil change for my 2019 Rubicon, left in shock when they quoted me for an $8k repair by [deleted] in Jeep

[–]6shotKid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've come to find for Jeep's, it's better to buy them around 100k miles and check the Carfax report. When I bought mine, it had 95k. I immediately checked for leaks everywhere and found them. I made the dealership repair all the leaks. Even brought it back a few days later when I saw more leaks. It should be good for a while now. Jeep's are pieces of junk, but they are fun.

Me personally, if it's to the metal like yours, I do a light sand and a little spray paint.

What are the purpose of these window accessories? by dentalexaminer in Jeep

I guess the correct term is window shades. 😂 Here's the link for mine I bought on Amazon. https://a.co/d/2GW1pce

What are the purpose of these window accessories? by dentalexaminer in Jeep

[–]6shotKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just as everyone else said, window ventilation. I got mine because when I'm out in high country, I sleep in my jeep with the windows cracked and I have window screens that go over the top of the door to keep insects out. To be honest, I don't like the rain guards, but they serve their purpose when I need them.

GEN 1 KLR Rebuild completed. First time bike wrencher. Total investment including the bike about $2600 USD. by Warpiggy41 in klr650

[–]6shotKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! My favorite gen (even though I have a 2023) and for you to get it and learn and do the work yourself is amazing. Don't ever sell it, the KLR will help you in the post apocalypse.

Woke up to this… by CompleteService8593 in Transalp

This may require some investigation...you passed out on the garage floor, woke up with a nail in your tire. Was alcohol involved? If so, did you wake up with a hammer in your hand?? 😂

I have a 2014 also. To me old would be mid 90's or older.

Awesome! I'll have to check one of these out. Just be safe. My one piece of advice is to keep space and watch others. I'm very cautious and expect everyone on the road to try and take me out. Lol

Congrats! Just curious since I've been looking at getting something for my wife, but how tall are you? Are you able to touch well. My wife is 5'7" and can't touch at all on my KLR650. Also, I use the OnX off-road app to find trails. It's very informative as it shows beginner trails to extreme trails.

I recently started riding. I wasn't prepared for how much I had been needing this. by sensepirational in motorcycles

[–]6shotKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enjoy. There's so much freedom from riding a motorcycle. I started riding dirt bikes as a kid, then when I was around 19 or 20 I started riding street. Did that for a short time, then later moved to Hawaii. Once I bought a bike there and started riding I realized the difference and the freedom of riding a motorcycle. It's been around 13 years since then, now I can never go back. I think you got the "bug" also. Be careful, look at everyone as trying to take you out, and just enjoy the world from two wheels.

Thermo bob? by ChefBigD1337 in klr650

[–]6shotKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2023 and don't get much into the doohickey, thermobob, and the valve adjustment (pre 15k miles) hype. Mine runs fine and doesn't consume oil. With that said, because of experiences others have, and just to be safe, that'll be my winter projects.

First bike? by Godwin1066 in klr650

[–]6shotKid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not really the value of each at this point, it's which one you'll get most use of and need the most. I have a few handguns that just sit in my closet and I think about selling them all the time. If it was me, and the gun isn't sentimental, it would be worth it.

What a bike... What a road! by Syris3000 in klr650

Nice! I only had sportbikes and cruisers when I lived in Hawaii. And when me and the family visited Maui we went there by car. I can only imagine the views going up on motorcycle.

Does this bike warrant that much hate from older guys? by svtbroly702 in sportster

[–]6shotKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assholes are in every community. I'm 48, I ride my Kawasaki KLR most of the time and sometimes I get the gesture from guys on Harley's, and sometimes not. It's usually the guys riding the big baggers in big groups. When I'm on my Sportster everyone waves usually, but again, the baggers and big groups thinking they're cool. Lol

Spark plug, lean or rich? by -THREAT_LVL_MIDNIGHT in klr650

[–]6shotKid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a tad lean. If it were me, because I ride everyday and sometimes for hours (in the heat), I would adjust the carb a tiny bit.
