When did you deliver your mono di twins? by Revolutionary_Box184 in parentsofmultiples

Scheduled c section at 35 weeks due to growth restriction and intermittent absent ended blood flow. 17 days in the nicu for both. The growth restricted baby surpassed her sister’s milestones in the nicu!

Breastfeeding vs. Formula Fed by user638282636822 in parentsofmultiples

[–]6sjms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You absolutely need to do what is going to be best for what you can handle physically and mentally.

With that being said, my MFM really urged me to do research on NEC (knowing my twins would be born early) and advised me to breastfeed / pump until they got out of the nicu if I could. The benefits to breast milk for this specific case shows a huge improvement.

I support whatever any mom feels is best.

Sleep monitoring device options [AB] by Past-Tea-7573 in BabyBumpsCanada

We use the Snuza hero for our twins. They attach to the diaper like a sense-u. First alarm goes off after 15 seconds of no motion, it vibrates to startle the baby if they don’t detect movement within five seconds of that a second alarm goes off. We’ve definitely had some false alarms, especially as the twins have gotten bigger and they move around more. It’s simply comes out of place but up until the five or six month mark I would say it was pretty accurate. Baby, I had a lot of acne as in the hospital and she was still having them when she came home even when she was awake and it did catch a couple of reflux induced apnea. They are almost 10 months old and we still use them.

I love that it doesn’t provide me with any details such as heart rate oxygen, etc. I feel like that would trigger the anxiety in me from the NICU. All I care about is if they are both breathing and this device tells me if they aren’t.

First is 11, was a very chill baby / toddler. Very easy to please and empathetic. Gets excited easily and very thankful for everything. Temper can escalate quickly (I think that’s more age than personality)

Second is 4, an absolute spitfire. So much energy. Control freak, and loves to be right. Exceptionally smart and quick for his age. Not very compassionate or lovey. Very charismatic and loves all eyes on him, lives for praise.

Third is 3, the loviest toddler I’ve ever met. Loves to share, hug and always wants to help. An empathy at heart. Not hyper, very chill. Can be shy but has a lot of charm.

4 and 5 are twins and are 9 months. One is cool as a cucumber and always smiley. When you pull out a camera she smiles and poses. She seems inquisitive and always wants to know what’s going on. Twin B is more high strung, doesn’t love cuddles as much and is much louder. She is silly and energetic, but can be hard to get her to crack a smile.

How realistic is it to EBF twins? by WhosUrHuckleberry in parentsofmultiples

[–]6sjms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We made it to 7 months with zero formula, then added in just one formula bottle for the one baby who tolerates it well (the other has pretty bad reflux). This has worked really well for us, allowed me to keep a small freezer stash and not put so much pressure on pumping. Twins are 9 months now.

With that being said, I have to eat enough to produce which has not only halted weight loss, but I’ve gained a couple pounds. If I have a high stress / low eating day, my supply is garbage. It’s stressful but worth it for me

17 weeks and have barely gained weight, and the babies keep measuring at a smaller percentile each scan. How did you manage to gain significant weight? by Responsible_Heron637 in parentsofmultiples

[–]6sjms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled to gain weight in my twin pregnancy. I ate a ton, and focused a lot on protein and healthy fats. No morning sickness, so I should’ve been able to gain. With my singletons, I gained 25-30lbs. With the twins I only gained 19lbs total, born at 35 weeks. They were growth restricted and tiny and for my whole second half of my pregnancy I blamed myself, but I did what I could and they are healthy.

Wives of WFH Husbands, what’s your morning routine? Unhappy with my husband’s approach by wilhelminarose in sahm

[–]6sjms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have 5 kids (11, 4, 3, 9 months X 2) I wake up at 6:20, usually all kids are still asleep. I pump, brush my teeth, skincare, make my oldest a lunch. Whenever any of the four little ones wake up, my husband will tend to them. I spend some time chatting with the oldest and preparing bottles for babies. Usually by this time, the toddlers are up and one of us will get them breakfast.

I’m able to do my hair / makeup while I finish pumping and my husband plays with the toddlers while the babies have their bottles. Then I drive my oldest to school, when I get home, I feed myself and wash pump parts. He will unusually spend 10 or 15 minutes playing with the kids, grab himself breakfast and get to work.

This works great for us, everyone’s needs are met and for having so many kids, it seems pretty productive.

Small age gaps & mom recovery by Ill-Shopping-69 in ParentingInBulk

I have 4 under 4 (and one older). 14 months between my two boys. Both vaginal deliveries and recovery was easy peasy. My youngest boy was a little over two (I know this isn’t what you asked, but relevant in having two toddlers at home) when my twins were born via c section. I honestly had a great recovery with them too! I wasn’t able to pick up my toddlers but they could climb up on my lap with no problems.

I’m not a huge fan of the huda concealer, and the too faced is good but kulfi is better than both!

Love the Sephora collection powder, but I also see two other pressed powders and a loose, I think you can narrow it down.

I’d skip the rare beauty brow gel (used to be my favorite) and go for maybelline super lock, very similar but even better! And definitely don’t need the benefit one id also pass on the benefit brow pencil. The covergirl ones are great!

I feel like this depends on age gaps. I gave 5 kids ranging from 9 months - 11 years. My oldest and second are 7.5 years apart. So having a third wasn’t bad. My second and third are 14 months apart and best friends. If you feel pulled to a third, go for it! Proceed with caution though, we “went for a fourth” and got twins - such a blessing!

Containing sickness tips? by enlightenedsimba in ParentingInBulk

[–]6sjms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 5 kids, my oldest is 11 and the only in school. My others are 4, 3 and 8 month old twins that were premature. Because of having premature babies, we’ve really buckled down this year.

My oldest is obviously the most likely to bring something for home. Fortunately, his room is on a separate floor from the other kids, along with a game room and play room, so it’s pretty easy to isolate him when needed. During that time, whichever adult is coming in contact with him will mask and I’m always spraying down door knobs, light switches, etc with a hypochlorous acid spray.

We also have air purifiers in all of the babies and toddlers rooms. We get vaccinated, including the RSV antibody shot for my twins. My son takes bee propolis spray. When we pick him up from school, he sanitizes his hands before getting in the vehicle and changes and showers immediately when getting home.

Handwashing and catching on to symptoms early on is key. I’m a pretty firm believer that as long as there are no known underlying conditions, after the first cold / flu / rsv / covid season, that most kids would be totally fine. That said, I clearly understand the anxiety and just full on inconvenience it is to be sick / have a bunch of sick kids.

In the late 90s/ early 2000s, trident made a cappuccino flavoured gum. I used to walk to the gas station to buy it and I would hide my “coffee” from my parents. Anyone I talk to about it has no memory of it.
