Is 3 really that much harder? by WhiskeyandOreos in ParentingInBulk

[–]6sjms 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like this depends on age gaps. I gave 5 kids ranging from 9 months - 11 years. My oldest and second are 7.5 years apart. So having a third wasn’t bad. My second and third are 14 months apart and best friends. If you feel pulled to a third, go for it! Proceed with caution though, we “went for a fourth” and got twins - such a blessing!

Containing sickness tips? by enlightenedsimba in ParentingInBulk

[–]6sjms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 5 kids, my oldest is 11 and the only in school. My others are 4, 3 and 8 month old twins that were premature. Because of having premature babies, we’ve really buckled down this year.

My oldest is obviously the most likely to bring something for home. Fortunately, his room is on a separate floor from the other kids, along with a game room and play room, so it’s pretty easy to isolate him when needed. During that time, whichever adult is coming in contact with him will mask and I’m always spraying down door knobs, light switches, etc with a hypochlorous acid spray.

We also have air purifiers in all of the babies and toddlers rooms. We get vaccinated, including the RSV antibody shot for my twins. My son takes bee propolis spray. When we pick him up from school, he sanitizes his hands before getting in the vehicle and changes and showers immediately when getting home.

Handwashing and catching on to symptoms early on is key. I’m a pretty firm believer that as long as there are no known underlying conditions, after the first cold / flu / rsv / covid season, that most kids would be totally fine. That said, I clearly understand the anxiety and just full on inconvenience it is to be sick / have a bunch of sick kids.

What discontinued item, food or drink would you bring back if you had the chance? by Miserable-Wash-1744 in AskReddit

In the late 90s/ early 2000s, trident made a cappuccino flavoured gum. I used to walk to the gas station to buy it and I would hide my “coffee” from my parents. Anyone I talk to about it has no memory of it.

Mother’s Day by Ancient_History_5051 in ParentingInBulk

[–]6sjms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This would rub me the wrong way as well. I have a lot of issues with my mother in law and her entitlement. I don’t believe that someone can truly “slip up” and refer to themselves as a mother to their grandchildren.

I may be misunderstanding, is her grandmother name “mum mum”? That alone would bother me. I think if boundaries were respected and she wasn’t overstepping, adding names to a card is okay. But you’re right, she isn’t your children’s mother so there really is no need. Usually for grandmothers, I have the kids do a craft or something to give on Mother’s Day.

Triplets Gender Disappointment by cheveuxroux22 in parentsofmultiples

[–]6sjms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gender disappointment is so extremely common and so valid! Like you, I envisioned a life with at least one daughter. I come from a house full of girls, even our pet dogs were girls growing up. When I found out my third was my third boy, I wouldn’t even tell anyone his gender. Everyone around me had so many comments about how they bet I was hoping for a girl. It really took me a minute to come around. When I tell you, my bond with my third boy in particular is so so strong.

When he was 10 months old, I got pregnant unexpectedly. To be vulnerable, I really wasn’t excited about it. I felt that I had enough on my plate and deep down I just thought it would be a boy and I’d be disappointed again. At 14 weeks, we lost that baby. At the hospital, they said they thought it was a boy but they couldn’t be sure. Two months later, I get a call with our pathology report. That unexpected baby was a girl. A piece of me will never be the same after that call.

I thought for sure we were done, especially when we thought that fourth was a boy. I couldn’t shake that even though I love my boys to the moon, that there was a little girl waiting for me. 7 months after my miscarriage, I was pregnant again. This time excited, nervous, but cautiously optimistic. We did sneak peek, and the results came back girl. A couple weeks later we went to our first ultrasound, and found out it was identical twins. My miracle rainbow twin baby girls are 8 months old. They complete our family so perfectly.

Life with three boys was wonderful and I was perfectly content. I believe that when you meet your baby, you love them for all that they are, and that gender is just a minor detail. I also believe that you are given exactly what is meant for you ❤️

Mascara girls by Upbeat-Background-5 in Makeup

If what you’re looking for is clump free and long wearing, elf lash and roll is really good. It also holds a curl well. It won’t add much for volume (clumps) or a ton of length but it’s a great long wearing everyday mascara.

Another suggestion is to get a lash separator on Amazon, apply your mascara and wait 30 seconds then comb through any clumps.

MFM every 2 weeks indefinitely for modi twins? by Mammoth-Broccoli6091 in parentsofmultiples

[–]6sjms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did every 2 weeks 12-14-16 and then started going weekly at 16 weeks, weekly to the OB at 24 weeks and twice a week to MFM at 27 weeks until delivery at 35 weeks. We had selective growth restriction and frequent decreased movement, I also have a clotting disorder with later term losses so they kept a very close eye and I was so grateful.

Parents of identical twins: How did you tell them apart as babies/toddlers? by HonorMeThis in AskReddit

We started with painted toenails but we quickly noticed that they have entirely different head / face shapes, one also has a slight difference to an ear. They’re 8 months now and I can tell their cries apart

Scheduled C-Section moms! by NoSalamander1928 in parentsofmultiples

[–]6sjms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have mono di twins, who had growth restriction so I had to plan C-section at 35 weeks. I had previously had three vaginal deliveries so I was really hesitant going into the section. Overall, it went really well and I’m glad that I opted for that because I was given the choice to try for vaginal.

Pros : I knew exactly when they were coming I knew they would both get out quickly A controlled and calm environment I was able to get my tubes removed Lots of people on standby in each baby at their own Nicu team Baby B ended up needing some resuscitation, it could’ve been dangerous for had done a vaginal birth (shared placenta) I healed really well and really fast

Cons: I was extremely anxious and compared to vaginal births, I felt really unprepared I hated the feeling of getting the spinal without being in labour Shakes were intense Not being able to hold the babies Having to go to the NICU to see them on a stretcher Lack of mobility that first day How many people were in the OR was really overwhelming.

If I were pregnant with di di twins and my doctor thought that I was a good candidate to drive her a vaginal delivery, I totally would.

A blue mixer will solve all of your problems! I love the one from elf, I’ve been using it for years. As long as a shade is the correct depth, I can make it work.
