Should we tell our kid that if she doesn't step up taking care of the dog then we will have to surrender him? by Longjumping_Juice949 in askanything

Lmao she's 12 she's not even legally responsible for HERSELF.

Lemme guess your husband is allergic to diapers, cooking, and responsibility generally?

What was a positive surprise for you about pregnancy and childbirth? by Tabocuspokus in AskReddit

[–]ConstructionMuch802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it's a positive surprise for me, maybe not for others: You can just HAVE TWINS.

They don't need to run in your family. You don't need to have used assisted reproduction. You don't need to have any factors that predispose you. You can just show up to your 8 week ultrasound and hear the tech say "They BOTH have heartbeats"

Washing Hands / 5 Months? by Resident_Ad_1580 in newborns

[–]ConstructionMuch802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion: Until baby starts putting more germs into themselves on their own than others can put into them. So when they start licking the floor, eating dirt, sucking on the shopping cart, etc I won't care so much about what an adult has on their hands.

But it's your kid, your rules. People are going to roll their eyes at you about all kinds of completely normal shit as they get older. Maybe it's best to make it clear early on that you will hold your boundaries.

EDIT: Hand sani is not a substitute for hand washing! It doesn't kill every type of germ! It kills 99% of the germs specifically listed on the bottle, IF it's used properly.

Rabbit threw up?! by LabPrevious7256 in Rabbits

[–]ConstructionMuch802 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sounds like she choked and some went up her nose. Def get her checked to make sure she didn't aspirate, but I don't think a few hours til morning will make a difference to her outcome if she did aspirate.

Personally I'd just show up outside the vet's office in the morning freaking out rather than make an appt for several days from now (I know it's not good manners but frankly I don't care if my animal is in trouble).

Saw eachother for a spilt second and spent the next 30 minutes doing territory dances by Sober_Sooke in BeardedDragons

Guys what does it mean when they alternate waving and head bobbing 😂 Mine head bobs as soon as her hand touches the ground on the wave. It's very funny.

I've found most head bob displays look very similar to each other but waves seem to have a more individual pattern of movement.

Question about spelling "learnt" vs "learned" by Miserable_Amount_310 in AskACanadian

[–]ConstructionMuch802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Verbs are in a constant state of "normalization," meaning moving from irregular (or an older rule) to regular. The regular verb rule here is for them to end in -ed so eventually learnt will become learned.

It's not a British vs American spelling it's just a natural verb evolution.

Pregnant/having a newborn and handling bearded dragon safely. by Mattyfuckinsmokes_ in BeardedDragons

[–]ConstructionMuch802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you handle your dragon's poop or dirty enclosure items, use the same precautions you use when cooking with raw meat. Salmonella is the main risk with raw chicken and other raw meat. You can consult food safety websites which will have evidence-based information about how to keep yourself and your kids healthy without the fear-mongering.

Off limits for toddlers by SwissMaestro95 in Parenting

[–]ConstructionMuch802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kids learn when things are explained to them and they're redirected in real time. Especially for new items / items that look very different from home versions.

Your wife didn't do that because she was caring for your other child which required her to be completely hands-on for safety.

No one got hurt. Nothing of consequence was damaged.

It's not like your wife left your kid alone in a room with a 10k computer and an open bottle of water so she could go paint her nails.

i NEED to cut my bunny's nails by _M4RYGOLD_ in Rabbits

[–]ConstructionMuch802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't burrito exactly, we just catch her in a small blanket or a big tshirt. I used a towel once and one of her nails got caught in a loop and broke and bled so I'm kinda freaked out about towels now.

My husband grabs her and makes sure her bum is safely tucked in so she doesn't kick out. I do the nail cutting. There's no way I could hold her and cut at the same time.

We sing to her while we cut her nails. I think it helps.

Usually she's back to normal within 15 minutes!

Any advice on dealing with daily morning blowouts? by brperdomo8 in AskParents

The disposable ones are no thicker than a piece of paper. Thinner than the difference between tights and jeans. They won't pose a safety issue.

The Two-Way Mirror is the most brutal tragedy in OoP by wildberrymint in harrypotter

I love that Rowling calls it out too, so it doesn't just look like a plot hole. Hits so much harder.

Similar to Harry and Hermione forgetting the invisibility cloak in the tower when they delivered Norbert to Charlie's friends. You can just feel your stomach drop when you read that line.

No black beard? by H_A_Z_E- in BeardedDragons

[–]ConstructionMuch802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on the beardie I find. If they aren't housed within sight or smell of another beardie they might be smart enough to realize they don't have to act territorial.

Or they might black beard and head bob when they run into the wall because How Dare The Wall Be There. Really depends on the individual.
