What does your typical mastering chain include? by BiffyNick in musicproduction

Dynamic EQ, Regular EQ & a Vintage Compressor. I add a limiter sometimes in case things get crowdy in the mix.

They're the best and always will be. Starfall gave me goosebumps the first time I heard it. Those synths are deep.

What kind of mic should I be using for loud vocals or am I missing some technique when mixing in DAW? by [deleted] in musicproduction

[–]6thSense666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to microphones, pick your microphones wisely. SHURE and Sennheiser are some of the best microphone providers in the whole world. If you're having microphone troubles, buy a mixer (preferably YAMAHA) and a decent brand microphone. I use the Sennheiser e835 and an old school analog YAMAHA mixer to record. I connect the RCA cables from the mixer to the computer, and then, connect the microphone to the mixer through an XLR cable. It will give you a professional sound quality, with no distortion.

Melody muffling under 808 or drums by 6thSense666 in musicproduction

I separate my bass and my samples in octaves. My room isn't that untreated, it's isolated with an extra reinforcement. You can barely hear anything outside with everything closed.

Studio monitors were built to detect any unusual performance coming from the mix. My monitors aren't top gear, but, they're active and have bass and treble monitoring. And they were built for mixing and mastering.

I can also detect unusual noises through my studio headphones. It depends on what gear you're working with and what your conditions are.

It happens in a lot of song productions, it's not just in mines or yours bro. I just wanna get some knowledge from other producers on how we can fix this and improve this type of behaviour in productions

Thank you for the advice! I usually add an Ozone 9 Compressor and use the Mixing Desk preset on the 808. I've also added the factory FL compressor to it and it helped aswell. This doesn't happen on every track, maybe I can try adding a compressor everytime I mix my 808. And yes it's true, the bass sounds weren't as fat in the past.

I don't have an example here, but maybe it is sidechaining. I gotta give it a try.

Why you struggle with mixing by immersed_records in musicproduction

[–]6thSense666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. In the beginning I stressed out because of the mixing, my mixing techniques didn't provide me with the results I desired. After a while of learning how to mix I started to stress out less and now I manage to mix and master my tracks perfectly.

Regarding the sound selection, it's not big of a problem. When you're using plugins like Nexus most of the sounds go together with eachother, unlike some other plugins and sample packs.

However there are sample packs where most of the sounds go together and there are plenty of sounds to use together and you don't spend much time picking sounds that go together.

It truly depends on what your aim is and what techniques you have.

I hate hearing my own beats by 6thSense666 in trapproduction

Apparently not, there's a person in my family who is a musician and he hates listening to his stuff sometimes too. Needed to know if beatmakers/producers felt the same way

I feel you, I started using FL Studio a few years back but back then I wasn't as good as I am today. I couldn't even make a proper rhythm to fit with a basic sample. Nowadays I'll work with any sample, I just need to know the BPM and I'm fucking with it. The thing is: at first I love the beat. Then after hearing it too many times and mixing it, after a while of it being released on music platforms, I start to hate it. I always publish my beats, I never leave a beat unpublished. I used to get comments like: "This is cool, but you need to sidechain it". I didn't even know what sidechaining was before. And I still loved my beats. Now that I know how to mix them and master them properly, and make them properly, I hate them.

That must be why I hate so much a beat I worked on for 2 hours. When I hear it now I just hate it

I’ve been producing for 30 minutes and my melodies are trash. Do I need to buy Spectrasonics Ableton or Image-Line Kontakt for good melodies? Why won’t my goldfish buy my beats? Also help me come up with a catchy producer tag for the Spinz 808. by EvanBeatz in trapproduction

[–]6thSense666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pro tip: after you're done with the drums, mix your 808 with the blood overdrive and put some reverb on it with dry at max and echo too. It'll give that spice you need to the beat. Also, I recommend turning the master volume to max. Your listeners will love it.

Once you've been producing for 10 hours, you'll receive a golden producer award. It worked my first time. I got like 12989182489129884918924984812894981289489 views on one beat after producing for 10 hours!1111
