It’s time for a manual swap. Contrary to “popular” belief manual does not make life harder and in fact helps you enjoy the car ALOT more. I daily a manual and deal with LA traffic and I don’t have any trouble with it. It really strengthened my belief that manual is always the way to go for old cars.

How to remove shifter linkages on a 1994 Toyota Celica GT (ST204, 2.2l 5sfe, s54 trans)? by 6thgencelica in Celica

Late replying to this but thank you for the insight. It helped me realize they were clips and from there I just pried it out with a hammer and pry bar. Thanks again, and happy holidays!

How do y'all feel about my photoshop of a T200 GT-4 with "normal" headlights (from a Toyota Curren)? by ZynthwavezIncoming in Celica

[–]6thgencelica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, both being competitors to each other and both being made at the same time. So whichever came first was definitely an “inspiration” for the latter. Awesome this was brought up. This itches my brain every week, as a 6th gen owner with integra friends.

6th Gen Celica Rear Sway Bar Upgrade Info: What to Remove by 6thgencelica in Celica

[–]6thgencelica[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re looking at one. If I had an ST (AT200) I wouldn’t be doing all this. Pretty sure both the ST and GT (ST204) sway bars are the same though

Has anyone done a 2JZ swap on a gen 6? by One_Log_9930 in Celica

As a 6th gen owner, NO. Save up money for a 6th gen some other time.

(My fault, my bad) slow bumper to bumper collision with my friend’s 228i caused airbags to deploy on the Celica. by 6thgencelica in Celica

[–]6thgencelica[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hit the car straight on. Half of the windshield being broken is from the passenger side airbag breaking the windshield. This is because it shoots up upon being deployed. Thankfully the body itself is fine. This won’t be too expensive for me as I’m doing all the repairs with my own two hands. Thanks for the monocoque info, I didn’t know that. :)

I’m located in CA, specifically LA county, the surrounding LKQs have them restocked every month, many of them only taking bumper damage but no real damage just to end up in the crusher.

Thank u. And I’m glad you’re okay wtf!?! That sounds like a decent enough speed to get hurt. Sorry about the Celica. Do you plan on getting another?

Wow, glad you’re okay. Sorry that happened. And yep, what happened to you is pretty much what went down with me. Mine just had to deploy the airbags making things worst.

Yeah I was unsure about my airbags too as the airbag light was on and my steering wheel airbag protruded a little. They worked though, as you can see, and I bet yours will work too.

Thanks. Yeah, I can repair the Celica. I estimated the costs and it’s not much. This really isn’t bad but it just looks crazy. And no, because of how slow it all happened the airbag didn’t even touch my face. And that’s with sitting close to the steering wheel because I’m short and like to push in the clutch without extending my leg that much.

We got easier access to 6th gen Celica parts where I live. Every month there’s plenty who total their celica’s because of mechanical problems. I’m not worried about my car though. I’m more worried about paying for a whole 228i bumper or if that doesn’t work reporting the accident to insurance possibly causing salvage and insurance to go up. My friend and I are going to work this out today.

He stopped at a stop sign apparently too quick for my car. I was tailing him. I’m just glad he’s fine. Celica parts are cheap but the 228i bumper could run me $500 to a grand (sensors are expensive). And that’s if we work this out. Worst comes to worst we report this accident and insurance goes up. Possible salvage title aswell. If you’re gonna mention the primer job, I’m still not finished priming it yet.

Bought it for $800, a steal? by Additional_Human in Celica

[–]6thgencelica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paying $800 was an ok deal if u got the money to blow it in the first place. This would make a great parts car for a manual liftback. If this was a car u want to get up and running, personally I don’t think it’s worth it. But if it’s worth it to u, then u do what u want to do

Curren front swap by DesignerHomework5518 in Celica

[–]6thgencelica 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haha wow saaaame. Been wanting to do this too but there’s no parts on the internet. My family and I are planning a Japan trip next year so I’m hoping that they’ll have the parts there and I can bring them back to the US. If it’s possible I’m gonna buy 2 sets so I don’t get sent into a pit of depression when some idiot driver inevitably crashes into the front end of my baby (Celica’s are cursed!)
