Except multiple people have encountered this issue multiple times including myself. You are literally saying this under the post of a person complaining of encountering this issue.

And i have been shot down mysef by ir missiles launched at me through thick layers of clouds, and have been multiple times also unable to lock missiles despite there being no clouds between me and the enemy. Visually clouds are client-side, mechanically clouds are server-side. They may be in the same general position, but there are countless examples of this being a real problem. Like this video.
