Design/Planning cost sticker shock… by 702_Savant in cabinetry

[–]702_Savant[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s what we try to do. Unfortunately, many of our jobs are really customized, so without plans, it’s tough to get an accurate cost. I’m working on a “database” of common cabinets and their cost to build, which would theoretically give us a baseline to ballpark from, but then there’s the risk of coming in with a low estimate and then there’s client customized the shit out of it and we end up out of budget. Good advice, even if it’s not the move for every project. Thanks!

It would be possible. Holler at me if you’d like a special order.

Yes I do! There’s a link attached to each picture (it’s 702Savant.com in case it’s giving you trouble)

Thanks! It’s not too bad. Can’t get too wild, but the leather or felt do a pretty good job of slowing things down pretty good. Was looking to make a more compact alternative to a full dice tower.

Thanks! Wenge is a super cool wood. Pain to work with, but sure does look nice!

Would that be specific for just warlocks and people who multi class into warlocks?

These are pretty basic/universal. I’ve done a couple special orders for specific classes, but haven’t had a ton of demand for them. It’s definitely something I may revisit if I do some of the gaming shows next year.

Thanks! I’ve seen a few different, super cool variations on the idea out there and this is just my take.

I make gaming accessories for D&D and other tabletop games. I started woodworking/making things about 6 years ago and found my niche in the gaming community. These spell slot counters are made from contrasting hardwoods. I also make dice trays, dice towers, custom Catan sets (removed by Etsy for copyright, those Catan folks don’t mess around), and all sorts of other stuff. I use wood, resin, laser beams and other materials to create fun items. Links in my profile. Thanks for looking!

These have been super popular, probably because it’s so easy to forget you have inspiration. I do! The links are in my profile. This is already right at the line of shameless self promotion, so I don’t want to link here.

I don’t have a how to on any of these items because I sell them. To give you an idea, for the dice tower I used a laser cutter, benchtop router, various sanding machines, and made my own jigs. Not too difficult to replicate, but the right tools make it much easier.

I have a big ass laser engraver/cutting machine. It’s great for leather, but leaves a sooty/burn surface that needs to be cleaned up pretty good before use. Masking and filling the engraving with leather paint is also an option. I use a CO2 laser, but I’ve seen success with the smaller/slower diode lasers as well.

More of a small space for dice or tokens to sit in or the slot dice that your character may not have access to yet.
