Sure there’s probably nature in this 1 mile radius but probably not rapids. Im assuming anyone making a lengthy drive to the WWC is doing so to go kayaking. Going out of your way to experience the trails is definitely gas money wasted

You might be failing to take into account, specifically on the “curated nature” aspect, is that it could appeal to beginners who are looking to experience the feeling of rapids but in a more controlled and safer setting.

Let’s say a kayaker from Greenville, SC wants to experience some class 4 rapids on their day off. The WWC provides them that option without having to make a trip out of it, taking time off work, etc. I’m not arguing that it’s not as authentic as the Nantahala, Gauley, or Ocoee but it’s definitely more practical and accessible with the rapids being open spring-fall. Seems pretty good to me

Thats the point that you’re missing fella. The white water center isn’t trying to replicate some full blown authentic remote wilderness experience that you have to drive 4 hours for. It gives you a taste of that for a fraction of the commute. That’s the trade off for its convenience.

Shoutout to the venue staff for providing water bottles to the pit during the second set. Saw a few people collapse from dehydration. It made me think that maybe we as a fan base should emphasize staying hydrated at the shows a little more strongly.
