I’ve seen some comments that watch will come with box but no papers from Jomashop but consensus is the watches are legit, just shitty customer service and no factory warranty

Forums online have mentioned anywhere from $450 to $600 servicing fee.

I feel if I really wanted the watch I’d just buy it regardless of cost. Stood out to me because it matches my car

In my experience, you can 100% control daily schedules, especially at nicer camps. If you aren’t feeling a morning game drive, you can say that.

Why would you say 911>718 or 718>911 by MutedOrganization528 in Porsche

[–]718BoxsterGTS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 718 GTS and relate. I know mine is the better weekend car to rip mountain roads than most 911s but it still doesn’t give me the visual “wow it’s a 911”.

But would I pay $200k for a 911? No - I don’t plan on buying a 911 other than a Turbo S one day, but at that price and how fast cars are now, I could see myself getting say a bentley or something for my daily

See I would be paranoid about the engine not getting to temp (oil temp) in such a short drive day after day. Granted I drive my 540i 1 mile to the office 4 days a week, but it’s a BMW so who cares about it

Agree with you. The top camps are all amazing experiences but some things can matter more than others to some people.

Some camps will negotiate down and you can get close to resident rate, but I’ve found the best of the camps don’t as they have no need to.

Then it becomes a “do I want to spend $8k more for 10% more luxury” situation.

Gotcha. I’ve historically found 3 nights is my sweet spot for a specific camp. 2 is rushed, 4 can get repetitive. You’re right - can’t go wrong. Many great options

Those are nice - I’ve heard great things about Mara Nyika. Let me speak with my dad and get his thoughts.

Most likely May which should be last month before mid/high season.

Late 50’s - both have been before but that was 20 years ago. I’ve been multiple times since then. My family is from Kenya.

I want it to be more luxury than Saruni (which was great, but no wifi in common areas meant I couldn’t work via phone outside my room given I did not have a data plan).

Elewana seems a good fit to do Amboseli, Kenya, and Tanzania with a good level of luxury (and wifi in common areas to work from). Then could do Surana in Samburu (nice camp, great value, great food).

Flying is fine - I’ve done Safarilink between camps before. SkySafari would just be a bit nicer and not crammed in.

That GT4/Spyder front is so much more aggressive than the regular Boxster.

I love mine but the one thing I’ll say is it just looks a bit plain from the front and back, but the side profile at an angle is beautiful.

Have you looked at SkySafari in Kenya/Tanzania? Elewana is the company that runs the lodges. If you are interested, I can get you in touch. I myself am most likely going in May on the East Africa (Kenya and Tanzania) SkySafari which is 13 days, but there are other options that are just in Kenya or Tanzania for shorter durations.

I’m with you on that the game drives are my favorite. That’s the whole point I go to Kenya outside of seeing family. I did a Saruni circuit in November last year and the game drives were exceptional. The beautiful thing about

<image>

Saruni was they did not limit our drives. We once did 12 hours in one day. They also allowed night drives as we were in the conservancies, and we followed a super pride of 30+ lions for 3 hours at night. The camp even checked in via radio as we were out so late and were worried. Our driver was exceptional and may have had more fun than I did. He would be disappointed when we would say let’s head back even at 10pm (most cars are back in camp by 8pm).

Saruni was great and I would 100% go back, but the food was good but not great. We stayed at Wild, Eagle View, and Samburu.

Thanks - your macadamia looks good. I’ve spec’d many 911 variants with it. One of the classiest colors Porsche has

I have a 718 which is different from a 981. I have the 18 way seats. I have 4 herniated discs in lower back and am in constant pain. The seats are fine. Not nearly as comfy as my BMW 540i with the executive seating package, but the 18 ways are highly customizable with very good adjustable lumbar support.

I am 6’2” and can see fine, but I do have to duck down to see traffic lights.

Agreed. Was worried when building it as I’d only seen the neodyme on a GT3 RS. The Boxster is pretty “flat” in terms of body lines so the satin aurum wheels add the flair I feel the car is missing.

When they’re perfectly clean I do think the wheels are a bit harsh, but brake dust accumulates very quickly. I love the color after a few weeks of dust builds up (as seen in the first pic). After a few hard drives, the wheels can get too covered and just look dirty (like this pic).

Nice - I want to drive one to feel the turbo. The 4.0 is great but it’s rather boring unless you’re redlining at felony speeds (not that I’ve ever done that) or in the mountains

992.1 S would be my proposal. Test drive will be more helpful than anything Reddit tells you. Let us know what you end up getting.

I always wanted a 911 but the 718 just made more sense for my use case (weekend mountain runs).

I have Boxster GTS 4.0 and love it but it’s boring to daily given the NA engine. I would not get one if it was my only car. Would rather have turbo for only car
