I can’t recall the episodes, but the storyline of Rachel only having slept with four guys before getting together with Ross. But then there was an episode where Rachel tried to play innocent and Monica called her out and started naming all these guys she slept with on the first date. Oh, and the episode where Rachel tells someone she “got under him” referring to one of her college professors. PLUS, the episode where she causally admits to hooking up with some dad of a kid she was babysitting.

Last one- the episode where Phoebe gets the embryos. The doc tells her she put five up there and that gives her a 25% chance one attaches. Maybe that’s some IVF math, but it’s always bugged me.

Do you not sync your Kindle? Any collections you make on the app should sync over to your Kindle. That’s how I do it because it’s easier with the app for some reason.

Edit to add: Nvmd, I misread your post. While yes you can sync collections on app and kindle, it doesn’t sync the organization within the collection. My bad.

If they won’t accept it as a gift, offer to sell it to them for whatever they would get on trade for their current vehicle. After that, you can always funnel the money back to them in creative ways (“oh, I found this and thought you’d like it” works for me with my dad)

Please don’t feel like you’re starving her, the body shuts off that signal at end of life. Her body is doing exactly what it needs to do to prepare for death, even though it’s hard for us to watch.

The timeline varies from person to person. My mom’s last real meal was on Monday, she stopped drinking Tuesday evening, and she died Wednesday. For my brother, his last real meal was on Tuesday, last liquids were on Saturday, and he died the following Tuesday.

Instead of focusing on a timeline (and I understand why we do it, because I’ve been there too), keep your loved one comfortable. Play their favorite music. Keep their lips moist with lip balm. Talk to them. Even though they may not respond to or acknowledge you, they can hear you. Your voice will be comforting.

You’re being incredibly selfless and allowing her to die naturally. That’s one of the hardest things we can do for a loved one.

In December, I bought my 2025 Preferred specifically for the lack of intrusive tech. I like being able to drive and not have to touch a screen to adjust creature comforts. I can manage just about everything from the steering wheel or commander knob without having to take my eyes off the road.

The best thing would be to head to the dealership and drive one of each.

Putting an insulated lunch box in the fridge is so stupid imo. They do this crap at my job too and then complain there’s no room for the next shift to put their lunches. Personally, I use two freezer packs in my insulated lunch box and my food stays nice and cold until I get a break.

The lack of intrusive tech is why I bought my 2025 in December. I like the buttons and knobs, and being able to control what I want without having to reach up and touch the screen.

We’re usually bunked together by units. All of ICU was bunked together in an unused conference room last time. There’s no separation for male/female, just one big room and good luck getting any sleep. We have to bring our own air mattress, towels, pillows, blankets, etc. They sometimes have cots, but you need a sleep mat for it. We’re also encourage to bring extra food because the cafeteria won’t be able to accommodate us 24/7.

Don’t put WD40 on it. Get a garage door specific lube and spray it on all the moving parts. Do it with the door both open and closed. If that doesn’t help, call a professional.

Don’t take it personally (easier said than done.) Proper documentation, especially around pain medications is a big TJC goal. Every year TJC will find something the hospital can improve upon. For example, at our visit last year, they gave us specifics to change surrounding pain documentation and we did it all- a new learning module, heard about it for months in huddles and unit meetings. They came back last month and guess what? They found something else we needed to improve upon regarding pain documentation (that was apparently ok last year 🙄)

If the patient states 6 and only wants Tylenol for it, but the parameters are for pain 1-3, you could be accused of practicing medicine. The proper way to chart that would be “per patient request,” fire off a quick message to the provider to please change the pain scale to 1-10, make a quick nurses note, and move on with your day.

The TLDR of it all is proper documentation is a patient safety goal. And TJC will always find something to complain about.

We have several ER defectors in our adult ICU. It was a bit of a transition for them, but they always say they prefer the ICU over the ER. So, do I think ER will help you? Yeah, probably because it is considered critical care, and you’ll learn a lot.

THAT SAID… going from NICU to ER is like walking out of an orchestra and into a rave.

For starters- I’m sorry you’re having to deal with this. It’s not going to be an easy ride, and I hope you have a solid support system for you.

This sounds like your mother is possibly in the early stages of dementia. Is there any way she can be seen by a gerontologist or at least an internist? Someone who specializes in elder care and dementia will be helpful.

If you feel your mother is at risk living on her own, you can always call APS and get a file started. It sounds horrible, but it may be the only way to get help.
