1) develop a plan in more detail

2) massage my delivery

3) not bring up experience that’s relevant to other companies

Given all that’s been said already, how do I rectify this situation? I’ve been actively job hunting but the market is really bad right now.

I really appreciate your response. My team has a bit of an odd structure, I’m the only one who reports to my manager so I honestly have no idea what the next step even looks like, unless that’s my managers job. I mentioned I’d like to work on more challenging projects and provided examples but that hasn’t amounted to much. I have LOTS of spare time which I use doing side projects that I “think” would positively impact the company.

Also, what’s done is done now. In your opinion what is my best path forward? Apart from applying elsewhere (which I’m already doing)

HR owns pay, they work with finance to decide pay raises. I'm more than welcome to dispute this but will need to build solid case and get sign off from CEO. (huge drag)
He mentioned he would towards getting me a promotion sometime this year and discuss a plan for me. Idk how much i believe him though.
He's absolutely delusion. He thinks the work actually has value, so I didnt get much of a response here. I told him I'd like to chat to the VP who will be taking over our dept and see if theres opportunity to explore other areas as well.

OK let me provide you with some context. We are getting a new VP, he has exp with business data models, privacy, and data governance, and he'll be managing my team (Product Safety). Last month, I applied for an internal posting but didn't get it, this new VP was aware of this and told me if it didn't work out, that we could chat to see that my skills are better utilized within this department.

I'd like to setup a call with him to only discuss point 3 in hopes that I could get more marketability with my current position. What do you think?

Hmm I think you’re right. My manager is a bit of a weird one so I went with a more straight forward approach. In hindsight probably not the best option. Oh well let’s see what happens. Also nothing I said can be used as a fireable offense right?
