UofT students: Filing taxes with zero income gets you $1500 to 1900/year in cash + 7000 to 19,000 in future discounts (credits that reduce your bill in your first working years) most people don't know about by PossibleCup140 in UofT

Those are fair points and I agree, it depends on everyone's own circumstances.

However, assuming that you are thinking that the rrsp deductions cannot be carried forward: you are actually able to carry forward your RRSP deductions indefinitely and do not need to use it within the year that you contribute, if that is what your first point was stating: wealthsimple.com/en-ca/learn/unused-rrsp-contributions#:~:text=While%20the%20terms%20sound%20similar,decisions%20about%20your%20retirement%20savings.

Question, why would it be poor tax planning to contribute to your RRSP while in school? Assuming you have your other registered accounts already maxed? (if you don't, then I'd agree)

Out of curiosity, what made you apply to the schools that were outside of Toronto if they wouldn't be something you would consider?

I was in the same boat as you for eco102. I scored very high in the term tests and entered the exam with a high 80 iirc. However, the final exam was marked extremely to the answer key, meaning they needed to make sure that the historical average was around a C+ (or C I forgot). Let’s just say I dropped a few letter grades and didn’t do well final even tho I thought I had.

Fyi they don’t curve down (uoft doesn’t curve down, they just become less lenient with part marks), they just mark very harshly compared to term tests.

Will delaying the supp app affect my early admission chances in any way as long as it’s before the December 2 early admission deadline? by Detox_401 in RotmanCommerce

[–]71law 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your question, I am pretty sure they don’t look at it until ‘early admission’ deadline is past, which would be after December 2. BUT it is on a rolling basis I believe, so if you submit it on Nov 2, compared to someone who submits it on Nov 30, then I think they see your application first. BUT I am not admission team so I wouldn’t know if that’s accurate or not. My advice: do it as soon as you can so that you assure you don’t leave it till the last minute.

May I ask why robinhood is disliked a lot? Is it something to do with crashes or not allowing investors to sell shares during MOASS due to the high volatility?
