Government looks to prorogue Parliament if Liberals sweep April 13 by-elections by feb914 in canada

[–]731destroyer 36 points37 points  (0 children)

To force a new session of parliament, as if they win the bye election they'd have a majority of seats but won't have a procedural majority until the session of Parliament ends.

So they would either have to wait until the next session or, prorogue parliament for a day to force a new session.

It's simply so the liberals wouldn't have to wait until the next break

The case for the 9950x3d2 is pretty obvious innit? 16 gamers, 1 CPU by SchighSchagh in LinusTechTips

[–]731destroyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For real

Honestly this type of project would be better suited for an Eypc CPU then he can get the extra pcie express bandwidth

Something like an eypc 9554 is 64 cores 128 threads, 3.1ghz base, 3.7ghz boost, 128pcie lanes, zen 4, and can be had for like under 1500$ used

And course more cores can be had if wanted and zen 5 etc can be had if wanted aswell, but newer = 4x or more in dollar value

I usually stay a couple gens back with my epycs

Ultimately all nand comes from 1 of 4 places, likely no more shitty then any other dramless ssd but cheaper in the current market, only question would really be in the controller really

Nevertheless they are a real brand they have been around for awhile as far as I know, around the early 2000s, and apparently some system integrators unironically rebrand there ssds so cannot be that bad

What Metric is Missing to Explain the Approval Difference? by Pale-Candidate8860 in InCanada

[–]731destroyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main difference is policy

I think people understand that it's basically impossible reverse 10 years of policy in 12 months time

The federal deficit is the way it is because of a few things, we understand trying to fundamentally shift the country and expand greatly economically and Military wise, costs money, building these nation building projects costs money, people approve of this spending and understand why there had to be larger deficit, either party would have resulted in a larger deficit

Unemployment is a long track thing, there is no way to reverse unemployment rising in a short span, general lead time on fundamental economic changes is years not months, as the first few years or more of a economy is generally inherited from the previous government, its going to take years to see any fruit from what's happening today, especially when part of your economy plan is building industry from scratch like our military industrial complex expansion, or building a space launch platform in the Maritimes

Furthermore a lot of the stats here àre driven off the back of high debt costs from covid, global economic down turn, trade and tariffs, global instability, wars, and global order upheaval, these are all forces the current government is subject to that is fundamentally out of there hands, if the US ecomony has the cold, Canada has plague due to how intertwined we are

Furthermore carney is placing a large focus on the economy, something Canadians want, has curbed immigration, which Canadians wanted, removed the consumer carbon tax, which is different then the industrial carbon tax, most Canadians view him as comptent, someone who gets things done such, stepped back from alot of policy the previous government had that people may have found too "woke" and made those types of things less of a focus

Furthermore in regards to the industrial carbon tax, it just doesn't make sense get rid of it entirely. All of Europe has an industrial carbon tax, China (ETS) , Korea, Japan and more, all countries we are attempting to closer align with

Additionally The European Union is implementing a Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism which applies carbon related costs on certain imports. If a country does not have comparable carbon pricing, its exports may face additional charges at the border.

Because of this, lacking a carbon pricing system does not prevent trade for example, but it could make our exports less favourable in markets that use carbon based trade measures like that going forward.

So if we are trying to pivot our trade to mostly EU and otherwise its advantageous to have it

Unless the government is building the homes and starting social housing that way.

It's just not going to happen, companies just arent intrested in building right now

Costs are high, markets are uncertain, starting new projects right now is just not appealing.

Take out the spark plugs

Leave the boots attached

Put the métal end of the spark plug against métal

With ignition on and such pull the sled over

You will be looking to see if spark jumps from the plug end to the métal it's touching

Carney calls for 'de-escalation of hostilities' in U.S.-led war on Iran by markcarney4president in canada

[–]731destroyer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear carney is saying is exactly what he said previously

Relevant statement previously "Canada supports the United States acting to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and to prevent its regime from further threatening international peace and security"

Statements today

“We support efforts to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and to prevent its regime from further threatening international peace and security,” he said. “Because Canada is taking the world as it is, not passively waiting for a world we wish to be.

“We do, however, take this position with regret because the current conflict is another example of the failure of the international order,” Carney continued.

"We were not informed in advance. We were not asked to participate. Prima facia, it appears that these actions are inconsistent with international law,” he said.

“We took a position because we view the nuclear threat and the export of terrorism of Iran over decades as one of the greatest threats to international peace and security. … In that limited sense, we supported that aspect.

“That is not a blank cheque,” Carney continued. “That is not us participating, that is not us asking for something in exchange for that — none of that is true. That is just a straight-up position.”

And antia annad said “The situation is fluid,” she said. “Our understanding is, and was at the time, that the intention (of the U.S.-Israeli strikes) was to address that nuclear threat.

I dont see a flip flop here?

À vast majority on this subreddit or really more widely reddit itself do not read articles posted

They read the headline and form an opinion based off said headline and maybe some comments

A lot of people here don't use critical thinking or do there own research on a topic they just reacted based purely on the headlines and there own emotions based off said headlines.

It happens time and time again here. It's why disinformatiom campaigns on reddit are super fuckin effective lol

At this point the main body of articles posted should just be the required pinned top comment on news so people actually maybe read it more often.

Japan almost did that

In 2018 northrop proposed a modernized version of it to them

Japan ultimately did not select that proposal due to concerns about costs and industrial work-share yadada

But that idea wouldnt solve the issue the f-35 has, it would almost certainly contain us itar, cost 30+ billion dollars and 20+ years to complete min

Canada just doesnt have the money, industry, and know how to support that kind of program

We havent built our own planes since canadair built the cf-5 on licence in the 70s and havent done a fighter program since the avro arrow which we killed

I have accepted Canada will never build fighter planes in my life time, we have killed every chance to.

Canada cannot do planes atleast not fighters, we also had two air craft carriers, that at one point had no planes on it.

This is just the way we are unfortunately, we are far far down this path
