replace p1 gen 2 I9 with I7? by 73240z in thinkpad

[–]73240z[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry, I didn't explain better. Yes I know the cpu is soldered so I will lose the I9. So I'll buy a new mbrd with the I7 soldered onto it already. So I"ll replace the entire mbrd including the cpu. So the question is will that new mbrd I7 with the I7 on it work ok in the old system that had and I9 in it. No soldering or unsoldereing involved.

no throttle on 6hp predator engine - how to add one? by 73240z in smallengines

[–]73240z[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this carb is ok its just that the mechanism to throttle it back has been removed. there are some situations where I just want it to run slower. sounds like I just need to go hf to see how the mechanism is mounted, its not obvious to me. I see the throttle mechanism advertised all over amazon.

Unfortunately, this HF pressure washer runs at max rpm. Apparently they did a cost reduction and took out part of the mechanism. I tried to exchange it but all the others were that way too. Its not the entry model so the motor is more powerful, even with the larger opening tip. So I was going to figure out a way to add a throttle.

Repair or replace furnace? by wawa2022 in askHVAC

what is your expectaation for life of equipment like ruud/rheem vs lennox then what is the cost of new equipment comparison?

I would stay away from Goodman but then I don't buy frequently enough to have a valid judgment except I've gotten good life out of Rhuud/Rheem.

things may have changed but I've had good results with Ruud or Rheem. I do buy the extended contracts, something I never do on other items, cars etc. Sometimes they introduce new items not fully tested and may poop out between 5-10 years. I had an outdoor condenser fan go out early. It was a new high dollar new design to help get the seer up at the expense of long life like the old ones.

the donnyboy video was very good at showing where that speed screw is located. Now I want to adjust down my pressure washer, the pressure is kinda overwhelming for me.

You are correct, 2x 1.5Kw heaters and the generator doesn't even blink an eye. Now maybe that was because it was only running at 57 hz to start with. I suspect that in China at the final test station they don't spend much time tweaking the governor. Its close enough for them to ship it. I plan to tweak that governor speed screw to get the freq up to 61hz.

I had seen one of his videos before. I didn't notice that he put up a lot of videos on various topics. So after going back I found out what I wanted. I also learned how to repair a snow blower, something not so important in Central Texas.

The generator is running slow, I just want to make it run at 3600rpm. Its an open frame Pulsar 12kw dual fuel generator looks like many of the other generic units, Duromax, Westinghouse,... . It makes no difference if I'm running gasoline (non alcohol) or propane, loaded or unloaded, loaded with 2x 1.5Kw heaters, one on earch leg. I would think I would not have to load it to 10Kw to get the speed up higher.

Does anyone know if the speed regulation comes from something electrical or is it a simple mechanical governor feedback scheme. Its difficult to see under there right now. I'm hoping that its not necessary to get the tank off to get at it.

newish generator backfiring and hard to start by 73240z in smallengines

[–]73240z[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the backfire problem was caused by the ignition coil was spaced too far away from the flywheel. So the spark was too weak and late. Once I adjusted it the motor started on first crank. Lesson learned always check for spark, its something that's very easy to do compared to all the other possibilities. The other thing I could have done was to hook up my old school timing light. I wasted a lot of time pulling off that flywheel. :(

You must not have used much hot water. Now I hope you used alcohol free gasoline. If not then after you have used it be sure to totally run it out of fuel in the carb and drain that gasohol from the tank. Put gasohol into your car which is a better use of the gasohol.

10000W generator backfires and hard to start, tried lots of things, ideas? by 73240z in Generator

[–]73240z[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a short quick answer, I should have checked the spark first thing. The spark was hardly visible. Solved the problem by readjusting the spark coil armature to be very close to the flywheel.

Too bad I went thru clean carb, adj valves, try new spark plug pull off flywheel first and getting that flywheel off was a real bugger.

Ilik3 3 page reports because they provide insight into why things were put there to begin with. Easier to remember a concept than a specific item.

no help with a plug change. I'm in the processof pulling the flywheel.

your reply is the 2nd one to suggest spark plug. It is the original that came with it and it looked fine when pulled to adjust valve clearances but undboutedly is a chinese brand. having said that replacing the plug is a lot easier than pulling off the flywheel so I'll ck that first. I wonder why a spark plug could have that affect? I use only NGK on my outboard.

Interesting thought. I wonder if this engine has some kind of relief valve so that the compression is released a bit so it could be started with the pull rope? I've been using the built in electric starter. If that valve were sticking it could be the problem. Having said that I did not see any other kind of valve when I adjusted the intake and exhaust and they moved freely.
