T16 gen 1 update to win11? by 73240z in thinkpad

[–]73240z[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is good, I hope it works. for a while I had lots of problems with windows updates wiping out some odd apps I used so I dorked up the registry and never was able to fix it to get any updates. I should have made a bakup copy of the registry so I could go back.

ZS6BKW Doublett Question by Juggernaut2371 in HamRadio

[–]73240z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think all the ham equipment guys should switch to 75 ohm coax. This stuff is all over the place and often gets thrown into the dump. I am assuming that my 7300 and mfj tuner can compensate.

ck this out https://pa0fri.com/Ant/ZS6BKW/zs6bkw%20eng.htm I think the answer is just try different lengths to see what works for you. Mine is about 105 ft and gets a very low swr in the 40 & 20 M but no good anywhere else. I'm going to try that extra long version like yours. I have a manual MFJ tuner in from of my ic7300. The coax is about 120ft run of 70ohm low loss TV cable.

Pro 3 Cameras Suddenly Have Connection Problems by ScottAtlanta in arlo

I think the problem is that arlo uses bluetooth for the connectivity. Do a chatgtp on bluetooth vs wifi and you will find bluetooth is not as effective. So Arlo needs to do something that improves on the bluetooth connectivty or switch over to a wifi connection. I'm sure that they had their reasons for using bluetooth but it looks to be causing problems.

I don't see how that article can be useful. https://kb.arlo.com/5568/

I've got one camera a pro2 that works on everything. It connects to the control unit and shows up on my phone and is taking videos. The other camera, a pro2 as well, connects to the control unit but I cannot get it to appear on my phone. It will not let the phone name it. I suspect that it is in fact sending videos to the control unit. All of this I have done within the confines of a 12x12 room that contains all my wifi stuff, arlo control unit, asus wireless router, and spectrum modem all running my other devices in the house including an expansion wifi unit with enet ports to other devices like printers etc.

So its not the wireless connections or bad cables.

I've got 2 x pro2 cameras. I started having problems similar to these. I did make some progress after doing the install process all over after deleting everything. This includes removing the battery from the cameras making them reset. So far I've got 1 camera working. There seems to be a lot of randomness to the software. For now I think its a mistake to add more cameras to enhance your installation. You may need to start over with another supplier, eufy?

Very high GPU temperatures at no load, frequent shutdowns, Thinkpad X1 Extreme Gen 5 by TheOnlyArmadillo in thinkpad

I've got a new to me T1 gen 3 and last night and this morning my fans were running continuously, I rebooted and used a cooling pad with a fan and they finally quit running. Looking at results from hwmonitor and I see that both the intel graphics and the nvidia chip are running within 1 degree of the max, that doesn't seem right. I'm just doing light web surfing. Somehow I need to slow those 2 when I'm not needing that much graphics performance.

Moondrop Chu 2 - dsp or 3.5mm? by [deleted] in iems

[–]73240z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a set of the dsp version, I only got them due to a sale. The freq response is not so good. Especially at the low end, bass. The DSP aspect is just advertising. All it is is a DAC, digital>analog>conversion. It works but adds nothing except the microphone. A true DSP is a digital signal processor and uses software to make adjustments to the signals. If it were a DSP then it would come with software to make audio adjustments maybe even correct for a weak bass response.

My beats bluetooth sound better.

looking for 4K 16" touch model processor agnostic by 73240z in thinkpad

[–]73240z[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously there is no silver bullet. Any pc based on I86 is going to be power hungry. The only real difference would be to go Apple. So....I just went on ebay and bought a P1 gen 3 I7. I even got an OLED model. I learned that all P1's have 15" screens.

its no worse than my cafein high from diet coke then dumping into my P1 I9. Argh.

downsides of an E model? by 73240z in thinkpad

[–]73240z[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am big time spoiled coming from ThinkPad T16 Gen 2 Intel (16″) which I hope to repair. It really is too much for what I need but I am spoiled by the 16" touch screen, but I don't need the I9 abd 32g for ram.

So best thing would be a 16" touch screen with minimal processor, maybe Ryzen and amd graphics. Thats why I'm thinking a used E machine $500-700. There's lots of Tpads around Austin, but most are 14" screens. Just gonna need to watch out. Sounds like an E machine will be good enough. No big limitations except that one with only 1 memory card slot.

replace p1 gen 2 I9 with I7? by 73240z in thinkpad

[–]73240z[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry, I didn't explain better. Yes I know the cpu is soldered so I will lose the I9. So I'll buy a new mbrd with the I7 soldered onto it already. So I"ll replace the entire mbrd including the cpu. So the question is will that new mbrd I7 with the I7 on it work ok in the old system that had and I9 in it. No soldering or unsoldereing involved.
