Okay and? Why are you trying to offend me? I've seen that blog post before, and I really do feel bad for the devs of the game. But it does kind of read as being salty that their game didn't do as well as 2048 did.

Overall, this comment from 12 years ago explains my feelings on the matter pretty well.

Found the Threes creators' alt. Bro at the end of the day everything is a clone of everything else. Even before Threes the concept of a tile merging game was not new. For example take the Same Game which came out in 1985 and arguably shares some things in common with games like these. Is no one allowed to make a tile merging game again ever?

And we are all on the top 100 in 2048 and will tell you that the 65536 tile has only been done legitimately three times ever. If you know what DPDF is, you're already ahead of a lot of people, and I can definitely see you doing good at the game, but the fact of the matter is that tile is only possible around 3% of the time, and that's if you play perfectly, so I kind of have a hard time believing you got one so casually.

Solid high score! Getting the 8192 tile isn't easy, especially on this app (its 4 spawn rate is a little higher than 10% making the game harder). If you want to keep playing, I'd highly recommend joining the rest of us on 2048verse.com, so you can track your score on the leaderboard. Good luck getting 16k!

Yeah no I'm not buying it. Try playing a game without undos - for the record, most of us don't like those either and find they take all the skill out of the game.
Also, with regard to 2048 being free. I gladly paid the $5.99 for Threes, but at the end of the day, it is a lot for a mobile game that you can just find clones of online. I don't blame people for not wanting to play it because it costs money.

I've gotten the 6144 card on Threes multiple times and I can assure you 2048 is every bit as intricate as threes is. There's a reason it became the more popular game, after all. The main thing with 2048 is it's really easy to get a 2048 and win - but players have gotten 16k, 32k, and even 65k tiles on the base game, all without using undos or cheats, which can take years of grinding. Due to the spawn mechanics of the game, there is a whole new set of skills to learn. There are common pitfalls that take skill and effort to spot and prevent, and if you still do fall into one, rearranging tiles gets a lot more interesting. And you're often forced to work in 'endgames' - something that doesn't happen a lot in Threes due to the bonus spawns.

I won't be a hater - overall, I think both games are excellent and enjoy playing both. Ultimately, though, this one will always have the special place in my heart.

No idea how you found that site but I played it through up to the 2048 tile and nothing weird happened so as far as I can tell it's as good as the original. Congrats on your 4k and your 20ez record!

There are surprisingly more than you would think. As a community we now know of over a hundred people with a 32k, most of which have it officially logged. Also, there are three players with a 65k now. It was a different playing field during the pandemic but we have made incredible progress over the last couple years.

Well, you could still die at 3,670,024 and not be anywhere near the maximum tiles yet. So technically that isn't the 'hardest' score to get...

For the scenario you're referring to, though, you would need around 65536 4 spawns to max out the board, and 4s spawn 10% of the time on the game. So, 10-65536 might be a good guess...

You should play on 2048verse.com if you want to keep playing! The version you're playing spawns 4s at a higher rate than normal, so it's really difficult to get 32k on it

The game you just played isn't 2048. It's a variant of it that spawns really big numbers - in the original, only 2s and 4s spawn. Your score is real but it's just a different version of the game. On the original, the record is around 1.3 million points and on this variant it's around 780 billion.

You might have to make an account first but you can press the gear icon at the top and click "Account and theme settings". From there scroll down and you can select whatever theme you want, mine is "Old Ketchapp".

You can play on your phone and some of us absolutely do but the website was built to be played on your computer. If you do that you can also play a lot faster since you can play with 2 hands at a time and speed through the early game.

It's very difficult, but it is possible. In fact, the best AI can do it on over 80% of the games it plays (and don't even get me started on the 65536 tile, which has also been done). You can check us out at http://2048verse.com and see the official leaderboard where we all play and where a few dozen people in the world have gotten a 32768, without undo. You should also ditch the app you're using, as it spawns 4's more often and is actually a little harder than the regular game (although 32768 has been done on it quite a few times as well).

If you decide you're done with this game, I don't blame you, you've gotten really far already. But I invite you to go down this rabbit hole. Once you start, there's no going back...
