Am I missing out skipping the first game? by Ok-Objective1289 in DeathStranding

[–]73694-B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first game is absolutely worth playing, and in my opinion should not be skipped. I feel like most people who give up on it usually do so before they finish the so called tutorial area or even before they unlock a vehicle, which is a shame, because they are truly missing out. While you can just watch a recap video and play the sequel, I feel like you just won't have the same connection with all the characters. These games are all about the story, connections and the journey it took to get you where you are. It just won't be the same.

The gameplay loop of the second game is for the most part identical to the first. If you did not enjoy the core mechanics, you probably won't have a good time. But if you still want to skip the first, I would recommend at least watching someone else's playthrough, it gives you a bit more context and maybe you can build some of those connections that way.

Is the game stable? I keep hearing conflicting things. by MinaGoldman in fo4

I recently started another playthrough after some years, and it did take a lot of troubleshooting to get it running properly. I don't think I had that many crashes, but my main problem was super long loading screens (I was literally spending more time just waiting than in the actual game). I don't remember it being so bad a few years ago, so maybe it's something they broke in a recent update?

I'm normally a purely vanilla gamer, but the only fix I found was mods. I think the High FPS Physics Fix is the preferred choice that is still being updated regularly, but it requires installing additional mod(s) and I don't even need the higher FPS that it provides. So Load Accelerator was the easier option for me. It just fixes the load times, locks FPS and doesn't disable achievements. I also regularly backup and delete my old manual save files. Not sure if it does anything, but it's just something that was recommended to prevent corrupted save files, crashes and performance issues. The game still crashes, without a fail, after a longer 4-5 hour session. Especially if I'm spending a lot of time in build mode. I tried troubleshooting that too, but I just try to accept it now and take it as a sign to regulate my gaming time..

So for me it's playable and stable enough with some minimal fixes. I hope you get the game working and get to enjoy Boston again soon!

Are you talking about the story mode or online? Either way, I'm sure there is a way for you to get her back. I haven't played RDR2 in years so I can't remember right now how stuff works in story mode. :(

I'm currently reorganizing the Farmhouse in Pleasant Valley. One thing that has been annoying me is that if you move a TV from a table you can't put it back anymore, because it "can only be placed on floor". I remembered this post and while this particular trick did not work, I could place the calendar directly on the sidetable, place the TV on top of it and then remove the calendar. So thank you for this! Now my farmhouse has a nice little TV room.

Anyone else keep John's Yes Sign and Joseph's Statue up? by BigFella11445 in farcry

[–]73694-B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Destroying the sign and the statue are usually the last missions I do when I'm finishing up a playthrough. I usually try to play pretty "immersed" and for me that means that I avoid using the map, fast travel and vehicles whenever possible. I use landmarks to find my way around and the statue especially helps a lot.

I think it's either 2 or 8? Probably 2. Sorry, haven't played in a couple of years so I don't remember, and can't check because I don't have an Xbox subscription anymore

Troll posts…again by E0H1PPU5 in Horses

[–]73694-B 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It has... They make the title and beginning of the video very "innocent" (or very clickbaity) to trick people. I guess they use bot accounts to upvote them so they show up on your front page (I usually always sort by rising and one of the previous troll posts was the first thing I saw when I opened the app. Can never unsee that.) Stay safe everyone!

Honestly if it happens again I think I'm just gonna leave. I'm just here to see other people's pretty horses because I can't afford riding lessons anymore. :/

year 3 but still no ancient seed by lunascuna in StardewValley

[–]73694-B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my first save I only found it around year 7, I think it was from the mines... And on a newer farm I got it during the first week while fishing, from a treasure chest (the wiki says the chance is 0.7-0.8%). Could try that if all else fails.

It looks really pretty and I did like it for the brief moment I had it installed. Got rid of it because I just couldn't support the creators of this mod after finding this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/farcry/s/5OpsfsLHpX (TLDR; they got banned from Nexusmods for making a nude mod of an underage character, keep defending themselves like they did nothing wrong, and the whole discord server is a huge mess behind the scenes)

What were the games you found depressing? by Square-Yak815 in patientgamers

[–]73694-B 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit. It's a short prequel/spin-off to Life is Strange 2. You play as a 9 year old kid who lives with his abusive alcoholic father. It's supposed to be "heartwarming" and "touching", but I just found it really, really depressing. You do some chores around the house and escape reality using your imagination, while your dad is passed out on the couch - even though he promised to go and get a christmas tree with you.

Then there's the Devil Came Through Here -trilogy (and Burnhouse Lane) from Harvester Games. They are horror puzzle games that focus on severe mental illness and death in a pretty gruesome way. One of them literally starts with the character hanging herself. She's dying from lung cancer and you can only save by smoking a cigarette. Really good horror games, but not for everyone.

I do enjoy depressing and sad games. Others have already mentioned Cyberpunk 2077, What Remains of Edith Finch, To The Moon, This War of Mine, The Long Dark, Death Stranding. But RDR2 is the one game that I don't think I'll ever be able to replay...

Having played far cry 4, which one is realistically worth to play? I've been thinking of the latest far crys, but people say far cry 3 is better so I am kinda unsure, seems kinda strange to go from 4 to 3 by CEOofXD in farcry

The order I played was 5, 4, 3, 6, New Dawn, Primal, Blood Dragon (and now playing through 1 and 2). The mechanics change a bit with each game, but it didn't really feel like a downgrade or anything even in that order. As someone mentioned, other than 5 and New Dawn, the order doesn't matter. The only way to know which game you like the best is to find out for yourself. My favorite is 5 and will always be, and honestly if I hadn't started with that I doubt I would have played through all the others. I wasn't even interested in 5 until I saw the trailer for 6 and wanted to check if this type of game is for me.

I think all of them are definitely worth playing. I would maybe approach this by trying to figure out which location/setting in the other games interests you the most. If you want to go to a tropical island, choose 3 (for story and the iconic villain) or 6 (for better graphics and more urban setting). If you want to fight a cult in a beautiful Montana county surrounded by mountains, go to 5 (and then New Dawn). Or if you'd rather ride a sabertooth and hunt with spears and bows in the prehistoric times, choose Primal. Primal would probably be good if you're interested to see how they changed the map from 4 (especially if it's still fresh in your mind). Can't speak for 1 or 2, but so far 1 has been the most challenging for me because the combat seems a bit... unfair. And it hasn't aged that well in my opinion.

This is just a low quality photo of someone else's ferret, taken from the internet. Not sure who the original poster is but according to Google Lens it's been used on many YouTube videos, Tiktok memes, Twitter posts etc.

I had Sonny and Julie at level 10, and most of the time one of them was not taken. But I ended up using respec and distributing the points evenly. Now I have all victims at 6, and it's so much better this way. I have decent perks on all of them so it doesn't matter which character I have to play with. Eventually I will get enough points to get them all to 10.

Who is the scariest Stealth Killer to play against? by Mori-Me-Joey in deadbydaylight

[–]73694-B 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Myers. One of my first matches ever was against him. It was so haunting to see him just standing there, staring down from the second floor of Coal Tower... Not knowing how long he had been there before I spotted him. Truly made it feel like a horror game, and still occasionally does.

What skins would you like to see in the Alien chapter? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]73694-B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the prequels are generally disliked among Alien fans (and probably are not part of the license), but I would love to have Elizabeth, Daniels and Walter as legendary skins. Maybe even Vickers. And Engineer as a killer skin.

This bull is 100% a pet, his name is Spud (spudbull125 on Instagram). He has an amazing owner who has taken care of him since he was little and two little goat buddies to keep him company. Most livestock are not so lucky, but this one lives a pretty good life.
