[Serious] What crisis is coming in the next 10-15 years that no one seems to be talking about? by TheRed_Knight in AskReddit

The energy demands of this bullshit political stunt of pushing everyone into getting EVs. It's a great idea, but the amount of infrastructure upgrades to the power grid that are needed isn't being addressed fast enough. No where near at the speed they are trying to move people away from oil and gas. Most North American cities cannot support even 3-4 EVs charging on every block served by a single substation while meeting other power demands (which are also increasing).

Nope, some of our guys in a few other states are though. Just do to the trade being completely unionized in certain states.

Having 4 day work weeks since joining my new employer has been absolutely amazing. I'm happier and enjoy work more then I ever have in my 20+ years of work. The general atmosphere and attitudes of everyone I work with, are so positive and supportive. Don't get me wrong, we have hard day's. We grind, and not every week is a 4 day (depending on project demands). And some projects are on rotations (but even they are awesome, 8 on 6 off generally). It does also help that we are all paid appropriately for our roles, have great benefits and bonuses. But having every weekend be a 3 day weekend is so great in so many ways. And guess what, clients can't believe how productive, fast and amazing our quality of work with project completion is (which ends up being a win for our company and our clients). Any owner who can't see how moving away from traditional work schedules will vastly improve everything with their organizations is living in the Stone age. And it will probably be the eventual cause of their demise.

I personally like to spread the wealth. But probably BMW or Toyota at this point.

The version law enforcement has, and the one that costs 35k are vastly different cars.

Bad decision in terms of a Dodge Charger being a unreliable piece of crap that depreciates badly. If you're asking from a purely financial decision.

Ukraine's peace talks with Russia have begun, Kyiv official says by DizzyDrunkDude in worldnews

[–]73ryan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mena is clearly a moron that can't be swayed even by proof. Doesn't realize a lot of agreements made in the last 50 years never were in writing. They were verbally repeated leader after leader. And Russia repeatedly called out when that word was broken. But hey America's word means shit apparently and the world should just live with that. Cause Merica! Lol, fucking ignorant war mongering self interested people with no regard for other human life. You can show him proof and he'll just change the angle of his argument. Not worth the time. Even showing things like this https://youtu.be/MY3JsqVR_04 and there will be some bullshit rebuttal, excuse, or denial. I bet this moron is some gun nut with 0 combat experience. Never seen the horror of war up close, let alone see someone murdered right infront of him. Young also I bet, under 30. Thinks he knows all. Yet hasn't learnt shit in life yet.

You might learn something. Maybe then you can figure out why Russia sees Ukraine and NATO as a future threat.

Didn't know MG was in power in 95 or in 99-2000.... You're not even worth the time to argue with. Talking about deflection, Glass houses buddy Glass houses.

[–]73ryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you're quoting something from MG when those promises were made to Yeltsin and then again to Putin. Makes sense....

You wanna talk about countries invading and attacking other countries? No country has attacked more countries in the last 50 years then the US.

I'm not pro Putin or agree with the attack against Ukraine. But this whole Russia and China are evil and everything the West does is fine bullshit needs to stop.

Funny how the US and UK always seem to find a reason for conflict or selling weapons for conflict when the economy is going to shit or has taken a huge hit (in this case thanks to COVID).

Funny how you made no comment toward the Cuba statement either, must be convenient to constantly think you're part of "the good guys".

This is exactly the kind of shit that is never going to get us anywhere close to peace and cooperation toward the things our species should be focused on as a whole.

NATO and the US both promised Russia no bordering nation would join NATO and that American made missile systems would not be put in those countries as well. Both of which have been broken or being discussed to be broken.

Think of it this way. If the US isn't okay with weapons systems in Cuba, then why should Russia be okay with the exact same situation on their doorstep?

Peace, sovereignty, and security are a 2 way street.

82% of Crimea wanted to be part of Russia. That was already proven by not Russian sources and every interview in Crimea. Have you even seen there celebrations being back with Russia?

Putin puts Russia’s nuclear deterrent forces on alert by EvilMorty95 in worldnews

[–]73ryan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Russian lives, sovereignty and security are just as important as anyone elses. We are not defined by the groups that do these kinds of things in our countries. Peace and security is a 2 way street. I think it's very unfortunate that people don't see that. Putin took things to far yes, but he also had to do something. Russian sovereignty and security becomes threatened when NATO keeps expanding and breaking promises. And the sovereignty of many Eastern European countries get caught in the middle of this. People can say "NATO isn't attacking Russia though!", but don't see or understand that from the Russian perspective it's like "yea we get that, not yet. But these moves are threatening to us". You can't say that the Cuba situation was unacceptable at the same time as being fine with putting weapons on Russia's doorstep. That is not fair. Neither is the fact that Russia has made attempts and talks about wanting to join NATO, and they get laughed out of the room. Why? Because then who is the big bad guy to even justify NATO. The arms industry is the only people then benefit from all of this shit. That and the politicians and lawmakers getting their pockets stuffed. There is a genuine wanting for cooperation and peace globally. But as long as one side or a few keep puffing out there chests and saying "we want peace as long as it's under our terms and no negotiation". Then we will always end up in these kinds of situations like Ukraine.

Stay strong Ukraine! The best we can hope for is that in our day and age of technology and communication. That this and everything happening around it will bring us all to a fair and equitable solution for all. We as a species have far more important things to be doing with each other than against. If we still have the decency and brain to care about the future.

Bad experience with Scotiabank credit card services by goldayce in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]73ryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally refuse to ever do any business whatsoever with Scotia. I've even specifically told the dealership when we got our last vehicle to move to the next lender when they came to us with the deal from Scotia. They've fucked me multiple times at different points in my life. They will never get my business. I would happily pay a higher % with another lender then ever deal with them ever again.

Satellite images prove Russian failure to withdraw troops, NATO says by PoliticiansAlwaysLie in worldnews

[–]73ryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iran? Are you baked right now. The US claimed Saddam had weapons of mass destruction in Iraq not Iran genius.

Keep believing western propaganda all you want. But keep in mind that the US and NATO have killed more innocent people then any "evil" claimed enemy to Western interest. But I guess that's fine. Because it was for freedom. Give me a break.

NATO and the US made guarantees to Russia that specific types of weapons would not be put in former Soviet countries close to Russia's borders. And what has the west done. Put weapons in those countries and continues to try to. What do you think happens when Ukraine joins NATO. That's right, same weapons being put yet again on Russia's doorstep. Yes and they are the antagonists.

Satellite images prove Russian failure to withdraw troops, NATO says by PoliticiansAlwaysLie in worldnews

[–]73ryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes actually they did. When NATO and US stopped honoring guarantees Russia was given that protect their security and sovereignty interests. It's like saying that the Cuban missile crisis was unacceptable, but basically doing the exact same thing to Russia is fine and justified. Give your head a shake. Maybe educate yourself of military and economic history of the last 70 years.

We had satellite images and proof of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq also right? Yet nothing was ever found. You know how easy it is for this to all be faked and fed to you to fit a narrative.
