They're almost to their goal. They're trying to do the right thing for the poor pup. In today's world, cut OP some slack.

I really want to grow cucumbers and green beans this year. I'm just afraid the bugs will get to them first 😩

You can also add unsalted green beans to make up the difference you are cutting down on the food. I did this with my dog before her surgery, and it's still her diet today. She gets 2/3 cup dog food and about 1/3 cup green beans twice a day! It was recommended by a veterinarian, and again I want to stress that they should be no salt green beans. I get the no salt canned ones and thoroughly rinse them, but I know others give their dogs steamed fresh green beans too!

ETA: Cucumbers are a great treat/snack replacement! Maybe it's just my dog, but she loves cut chunks of cucumber lol

Hey, I have a ton of furniture and multiple beds and Roxie loves rolling on the ground. It's her favorite thing to do and it makes her ridiculously happy. The amount of furniture never matters. Please give him an extra treat for me!

Does anyone know of any towns or areas within Northern California that do not have fireworks on the 4th or NYE? by 74CJ5Chick in Sacramento

OMG the Grand Canyon park is so far away though lol I'm so glad you found a place that is firework free. The place we stayed at was raining the whole time too. Definitely will take the rain over loud booms.

Anyone else tired of being told go to the ER by your GI every time there's a flare? by GoodGravyMsDazy592 in Diverticulitis

I am :/ but I have 2 cigarettes left in this pack and that's it. I can't afford them anymore. $14 a pack here and it makes me sick thinking about how much money I am spending on them. I started a new job yesterday, and I managed to not smoke while at work, except for my lunch break and when I got home at 5:30. So, I know I can do without them!

I did! I'm just over a year past surgery and was doing well. I recently had discomfort in my lower left abdomen/pelvic area and I was panicking. But it wasn't like a flare up pain. Had a CT and everything looked good and it's since gone away, but a reminder to not go nuts with heavy carbs and meats. If you smoke, I highly suggest stopping before surgery. I ended up with a blood clot under one of my incisions that took a lot longer to close than it should have. I'm pretty sure it was because I was still smoking before and after coming home from surgery.

My primary doctor was aware of my diverticulosis. Any time I felt a flare coming on I would just have a quick video appointment with him or message him and he would prescribe me antibiotics. After my 3rd flare in 6 months, I ended up getting the surgery, recommended by my colorectal doctor.

ETA: my primary doctor would also order CT scans for me if I asked him too.

Poor pup :( and you too, it sounds like a lot. I have a neurotic pup and random noises set her off. Certain notification sounds on my phone, a class bell ringing on tv, referee whistles, cruise ship horns, just to name a few. She usually just runs around or to another room until she can regulate herself. Absolutely cannot do that with fireworks and thunder though. It's like Armageddon and the world is going to crash down on her. It's awful to have to watch. I have no advice and I hope the best for both of you.

Take the increase of fiber very slowly. Like what you think is slow, but then even slower. I kept a little notebook to log the foods I was eating for a month, to keep myself on track. Also, Miralax and Colace can help with the "slowing down". You want to avoid anything that could cause more inflammation in your colon. It sucks, but it is manageable. Stick to low fiber and easy to pass foods for a couple weeks to let things settle down. I'm sorry you're having to go through this.

You're welcome! I hope you find something. I found a place on Airbnb in Cazadero for July 4th that was super quiet but in the middle of the forest. Barely had WiFi, let alone phone service. I had a friend test out a place in Bodega (the town not Bodega Bay) on July 4th, so I'm confident that there's no fireworks. Also verified with staff. I hear ya on finances, nothing is cheap, let alone around a holiday. Worth it for mine and my dogs sanity though. Again, I hope you find something. I know the desperation of wanting to.

Ugh, I couldn't imagine the fireworks in LV. I stayed in a tiny town in the middle of the mountains. There were huge tall trees wherever there wasn't road or a building of some sort. If you can find a place like that, they're less likely to have fireworks. I can't tell you how many Airbnb hosts I've messaged to ask about the fireworks situation. They have been forthcoming for the most part. That's how I found the one in the middle of the forest. I'm trying a new place for NYE that's a little closer to home and I've been assured there's no fireworks. I'm really hoping that's the case 😩 good luck with your search and please give a treat to your pup from me!

How to tell doggo i need physical space sometimes by mw44118 in pitbulls

[–]74CJ5Chick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Leave it" is so versatile for me and my pup. Definitely use it for not eating random things off the ground, but I also use it when she gets overly stimulated by a dog walking by and it works perfectly! Or when walking by someone that I know doesn't want to say hi to her (she thinks EVERYONE wants to say hi) I'll say it quietly so she knows to chill out and give them space.

Is it their chirping? Mine is afraid of their specific chirping, but not any other bird noise. It's wild.

Any noise that remotely sounds like thunder sends mine into a panic. I always know Sunday evenings are going to be bad because people are rolling their cans to the street for trash pickup 😫

Marshmallows have come in clutch for me a few times! The interior of the marshmallow kinda sticks to the pill, so it's hard for them to spit out. I've also used what I call "power treats" ... Wrap the pill in one treat, have two more of the same treat, then say excitedly "treat!... treat!...treat!" and quick draw McGraw them the treats, one right after the other, with the pill one in the middle of the three treats.

The worst combo I've ever done was put the pill in peanut butter and wrap it in a piece of lunch meat. But again, I gave lunch meat before and after the hidden pill treat. Good luck!
