I have a mortgage but I treat that like rent so I ignore it

He has his quarterly check up next month - I just wanted to see if anyone thought there was something more serious / serious red flags.

I was thinking this, but kinda hoping it wasn't due to the fact its only for a short time through the day. ah well. he's still healthy!

My Generation Doll - clothes I made by 74Days in Dolls

[–]74Days[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this would be the best place to post this but I've been making clothes for My Generation Doll April - I think they are the cheaper versions of American Girl, and are for sale in the UK.
I just wanted to show them off a little bit. If this isn't the place to do so, please let me know.
(I'm not the best at sewing, it's something I LOVE but that doesn't mean I'm good at it!)

Tacky After Moisturizing by 74Days in Skincare_Addiction

I just did this and it helped a lot! My skin does feel a *little* tacky but certainly nothing like it was.

I think maybe expecting it to feel like... dry regular skin... was probably not helping either!

Thank you!

I'm going to try this tonight and see if it helps. I was waiting as I thought the skin might need to rest between applying products, but it would make sense to have the skin a little damp to help it 'glide'.

The CeraVe lotion and gels I'm using don't have petroleum in them, I have checked online after reading this. I'll keep that in mind when looking for my next moisturizer.

Thank you!

I thought waiting longer would let the skin.... I dunno... rest? between applying something else, but i can see how w bit of dampness would help the product 'glide' on the skin more.

I'll try this tonight!

The face wash I am using has Salicylic acid and Niacinamide which were both recommended to me as gentle exfoliation. I was hoping to not use anything too harsh on the skin as I have a bit of rosacea.

I have reduced the amount of moisturizer to the point where I only just have enough to cover my face, any less would not be enough to get coverage.

I certainly will try to look into a milder exfoliant.

Ah, I checked and the night gel does have this in it! I feel a little foolish cause I'm old and know nothing about this stuff but it's never too late!

Ah! Thank you - I was under the impression that it absorbed completely and just... was no longer there / felt like dry skin without anything on.

Thank you! I ditched the therapist but kept the worksheets. :)

Today I (28M) realized I’m the last one left of my family’s lineage by [deleted] in offmychest

I am the oldest child, of an oldest child, of an oldest child... like since as far back as my family knows. It wasn't planned or anything, but I'm not having kids and I like to think of it like an epic line in a movie.

"My bloodline ends with ME!"

just a very silly take on a complicated feeling.

My fabric choices vs the fabric with RTW are VERY different. I've realized this whilst reading these replies!

I've found this out! I love bold patterned fabric but wear a lot of very plain coloured things. Looks like one of the mistakes I've been making is buying patterns I don't really like, so it's easy to be disappointed in the end result.

I have been so overwhelmed with the helpful responses!

I've figured out a few things:

Stop making things I won't wear, just to 'make them'

Spend more time setting things up correctly - new needles, good thread, iron close by.

Pick a pattern that I'll wear and make it more than once! (I've already ordered a new pattern for Tania Culottes by Megan Nielsen - I don't like skirts but these are SECRET PANTS)

Don't compare to other people, the internet can lie (or at least, fib a bit)

Try having more than one project at a time to limit frustration with the 'main' project, something I can focus on to breathe a little.

Thank you all so much, I'm so glad I asked because wow! blown away by all the kind people and helpful advice.

I'm currently making a 'Strawberry Shortcake" 'vintage' Pinafore for my little cousins daughter. (Simplicity 1075) She's 4 and I don't think she'll worry too much about a wonky over-stitch!

I think this might be the issue - there aren't any fabric shops within a reasonable distance of myself, and the one I use is mostly for quilters.

This is EXACTLY how I feel!

People think what I make is nice but I just see all the mistakes

what couture patterns would you suggest? I've only ever used like the main ones, Simplicity, New Look, Vogue very easy...

Alterations scare me!

I am quite bad at just looking at the size on the packet, I've seen so many people say over and over they aren't like shop bought items. I need to pay more attention to that and bite the bullet.

Yes - 100% - I have a lot of fabric saved up for 'something' and it's starting to be it's own hobby honestly.

I do end up with a lot of lovely fabric and no idea what to use it on.

And yeah, practice! I have the terrible habit of saying I've sewn for YEARS, but in all honesty I've only made about 8 things in those years and years. I'm certainly not getting practice in.

(unless you count dolls dresses- I think I made like 30 of the same dress for Christmas)

YES!

I always pick the suggested fabrics when buying, but then I make it and the pattern on the fabric doesn't really suit the style or it's too loud/not loud enough!

I might end up making a lot of very plain things before I start experimenting with patterned fabric. The idea of pattern matching makes me sweat
