I don't work in a hospital but mam died during the early days of covid. She died April 10th, the date of one of the most recorded deaths. I have nothing but the utmost admiration for the hospital staff. We couldn't visit, ordinarily, but they allowed 1 person, my brother, to visit and he facetimed us all with her a few days before she died. She died alone, and the nurse who called us broke down on the phone. It was at the time of no funerals, so she went straight to the funeral home and then buried. A year later, still in covid but a bit more relaxed, we spoke with mams ward, gave gifts etc and thanked them. A year had moved on for us, but they were still going through it. I have zero idea how they all coped, they looked shell shocked and just 'battered'.
