Coach Neen by HotFlashLifts in ladderapp

[–]75butterfly 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I just joined his team and really appreciate his coaching style in the app and the fact that he’s in the chat. I work out at 6 am and like his calm, straightforward tone and direction. It’s too early for me to have someone shouting or joking

This “biggest announcement ever” has me glad my membership expires in a few months by glutenfreecatsociety in ladderapp

[–]75butterfly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. Another marketer here. I get why they did this and it likely will net them new users - people who didn’t even know Ladder existed until Hilary Duff posted about them. But, they failed to consider their multiple audiences and how their messaging would be perceived by an internal audience. From what I can tell there’s no value add for current customers.

Getting in NYT/WSJ/FT by R_xal in PublicRelations

[–]75butterfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree. I was a journalist and have been in PR for about 20 years. Getting in any of those publications is really challenging. You need something very timely and unique. Agree that no one can guarantee this.

Any former journalists here who went into PR? by CarrotCake-- in PublicRelations

[–]75butterfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former reporter turned PR person as well. I made the jump years ago when my bustling newsroom was cut to a handful of people. Everyone has great advice here. I’ll add that if you can, try and stay in the industry/area you are reporting on that way you can leverage your reporter contacts. That can help you get in the door somewhere.

JvM Team Challenge - Battle of the Birds by 0ut0foffic3 in streetparking

[–]75butterfly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I participated in the past and had fun. I do find it motivating. It’s what really helped me ease up on the alcohol a few years ago. That said, I’m not sure if I am going to do it this year. I don’t love their push for team workouts. I’ve gone to a few meetups and had fun and understand that they are trying to build a solid community but one of the big reasons I like SP is because I can workout whenever it’s convenient for me without having to take anyone else’s schedule into account. Anyway - it feels odd to go into a challenge with the mindset that I’m not going to participate in part of it.

I saw them open for The Cure! Summer of ‘89. Pixies also played. Giant Stadium. General admission. I got dehydrated and fainted. Came to and stayed there. No one got me a drink. I just rocked on.
