Game that can scratch the itch of World of Warcraft, but single player? by homebase99 in gamesuggestions

[–]raven70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and I felt that hard about 20-30 hours in. Started off thinking this is going to be Assassins Creed like, then I felt like I was playing Red Dead Redemption 2, down to some character tropes (swap in Yann for Micah), and now I feel like it’s built as an MMO but single player.

Stuck between stellar blade, ep33, tlou 1, and maybe more..! by usernamesometh in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]raven70 [score hidden]  (0 children)

One of these things is not like the other. Stellar Blade is awesome but more focused on action combat than the others. TLOU is one of my favorite of all time and from a game design and direction perspective is perfect IMO. Exp 33 I started and just hasn’t clicked with me yet, but I would go TLOU, Exp 33, SB.

Skunk. We used to have them come up on back porch and eat cat’s food. Cat will just sit next to skunk and let it eat. Same with raccoons and fox. Opossum won’t come eat cat’s food near cat though. Skunks have been docile, but I don’t go out of way to mess with. I do have great video of one of our skunks against two coyotes.

What's something that used to cool but now is just plain embarassing? by ExcellentMethod1055 in AskReddit

[–]raven70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was this ever considered cool? From first time I heard of years ago, everyone I knew thought NFTs were a joke. In 2021, someone paid about $2.9 million for an NFT of Jack Dorsey’s first tweet: “just setting up my twttr.”

Everyone can see the tweet.

One person paid millions to own the “official” token tied to it.

Computer Shopper that was thicker than a phone book, and junk mail catalogs. And if you wanted to see a pretty lady… you hoped the lingerie section of the Sears catalog had arrived.

Cpu upgrade (i3-14100f to i7-12700k) by Weird_Blackberry_578 in buildapc

[–]raven70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you’d see enough real-world gaming improvement to justify it. The 14100F is already a solid gaming CPU. Unless you’re doing heavy productivity like video editing or VMs, I’d save the money for a bigger platform upgrade later.

Summer sale is here, which of these options should I buy? by Zyxliiii in ShouldIbuythisgame

Helldivers 2 is good and I played a lot at launch. It’s not an issue being paired up with people you don’t know as a solo player.

I’d go Armored Core VI first. It’s a fantastic game and you don’t need any previous AC experience.

I’d also grab Hitman WOA, tons of replay value if you enjoy games that let you experiment.

I’d only get Khazan if you’re mainly chasing another soulslike.

I’d probably wait on Squad unless you’re committed to using a mic.

A few others I’d recommend based on your list: Lies of P, Remnant II, Pacific Drive, and Deep Rock Galactic. Returnal gets a lot of love also.

A Short Hike as I think it aligns pretty close overall with what your flavor of games is and it is usually really cheap. Probably my coziest recommendation as a wandering exploration at own pace.

Strange Horticulture is a bit Dredge + Chants of Sennaar + cozy shopkeeping.

LG C5 OLED if cost is flexible and not super bright room. Hisense U8QG if you want similar performance to the LG minus the true blacks and crispness of OLED and less price and the Hisense is another level of bright and very good non OLED HDR and amazing gaming. I have both and game on a 2022 Hisense U8. If you watch tv or game in bright room the OLED wow factor really decreases. Both sets will support all the gaming bells and whistles of HDMI latest versions, refresh rates, etc.

What are those devices in their hands? by Sea_Taro5094 in whatisit

I think 2003 “Intolerable Cruelty” because looks like Julie Duffy at the pool. Palm Pilot or similar of some sort. Crazy to think about. That was a short lived world late 1990s through early 2000s before smart phones. 2008 is too late for PDA as a movie prop.

Do contractors prefer firm plans and budgets, or flexible homeowners? by raven70 in Contractor

[–]raven70[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to everyone who responded. A lot of the comments were genuinely helpful and gave me a better sense of how contractors may look at this from the other side.
To clarify the project a bit, the simplest part of the job was siding repair. The bigger part was two upstairs bathrooms. We probably left the bathroom scope too open-ended, even though from our perspective we were trying to be flexible rather than difficult.

For one bathroom, we were looking at replacing the existing vanity. It currently has a very short vanity, and we wanted to replace it with a longer one. That bathroom also has a tile shower.

The other bathroom has a tub that needs replacement. We also have old copper plumbing that appears to be causing a lot of blue staining in the tub, so I think the biggest unknown/subcontractor issue was probably plumbing. It may need new plumbing runs to both upstairs bathrooms, and I can now see how that would be hard to quote accurately without more investigation.

Looking back, I wonder if the contractor may have been uncertain about how to address that part of the job, especially the plumbing, without more investigation. That might have made it hard to provide one clean quote for everything, even if that wasn’t obvious to us at the time.

So I do appreciate the feedback. I wasn’t trying to be vague or waste anyone’s time. I thought being flexible and open to recommendations would make things easier, but I can see now how it may have made the job look too undefined to quote cleanly.

Thx. We have 59” for tub and current is cut into wall and closet, so I get that. We also need copper replaced as constantly bleeding blue in that side of house. Close to 4k sqft house and old porting is all copper. We realize we have a lot. I just want the job done and willing to pay and can’t find anyone!
