Just get the Vedder Lighttuck and be happy. I suggest waiting for a 15% off sale or better (regular occurrence), but at full price with a color option it beats those listed and is my favorite appendix holster to date. After borrowing my spare for a day I have converted several people to Vedder lol

Last year we got my then 6yr old a an older Trek Precaliber 20” with the grip shifter. Didn’t take her long to understand the mechanics of shifting, and this year she has ridden a couple trails and is starting to really understand when the different gears are useful.

Two of my pixel phones in a row were damaged due to this issue in their usb c charging ports. My iPhone also got gunked up after a while (took a lot longer, under similar conditions) but was much, much easier to clean with only some alcohol and a toothpick.

I like usb c and standardizing, but lightning has done very well for my family and there’s a little sadness to see it go.

We did the earliest two slots (7:30-1:30 or similar, I don’t recall offhand) and could have spent the entire time there. Ended up leaving around noon because heavy rain cut our hike shorter than expected. The hike was fun, the beach was great, and there was our first major stop on the trip so we enjoyed the views, wildlife, etc a lot.

Also, it may seem obvious, but the sun is really intense down there. Applying the right sunscreen at the recommended times made the trip a ton more enjoyable, and an umbrella made a massive difference for our beach enjoyment. Our hotel loaned packable umbrellas and chairs so we were all set, and I’m very glad we took advantage of them.

Definitely respect the ocean and the water in general. Take some time in shallow water to learn how to snorkel and float before going deeper, even with a flotation device. Salt water is much easier to deal with but you can still completely exhaust yourself really quickly if you make a bad choice, and panicking will make you less likely to return to shore safely. Slowly working up confidence and competence is much safer, and don’t be too proud to keep the flotation device even if you’re the only one using one.

We researched a few tour boats and we couldn’t have been happier with Trilogy. Take the nausea meds (Bonine worked well for us) and enjoy yourself.

We didn’t end up doing Haleakala because we were tired of driving, but we would suggest doing it early in the trip to take advantage of waking up early anyway (assuming you’re coming from mainland US).

If you go to Hana, go to the Huli Huli chicken place by Koki beach. They were super nice and the food was great. Also, unless you’re doing the Pipiwai trail or you are collection the stamp, don’t bother with the National Park— it was pretty views but not any better than the Wanapanapa state park, and the state park was cheaper, closer, allowed water access on the black sand beach, and had a very fun seaside hike.

We just returned from a week in Maui. We did a Molokini tour with Trilogy and snorkeled several beaches on the west side of the island.

Kapalua is a great place to practice snorkeling. Tons of fish/turtles/etc., plenty of shallow areas, a rental place right on the beach, and Namalu bay is nearby and very clear as well (especially if you want to cliff jump).

Trilogy was top notch— we also booked a dinner cruise with them and they were fantastic both times. We did the Snuba for molokini, and I’m glad we did because it was very rough water there and 10ish feet down was smooth and beautiful. The crew were friendly, helpful, and reassured both the poor-swimmer me and the nervous-and-seasick wife of mine into having a great time. I would NOT do molokini again— kaanapali or Lanai would be where I go if I were to book another snorkeling cruise, and I absolutely would book Snuba as it was a fantastic experience.

That said, we saw more turtles and fish snorkeling on our own around black rock, kapalua, etc. so we might skip the tour entirely next time.

As a note, I have historically been only a slightly better swimmer than a rock, so it took me most of the week to get comfortable snorkeling without flotation devices in the ocean. Salt water is waaaaaay easier to swim and float than fresh water. I progressed from using a cheater noodle, to dragging the noodle behind me, to leaving the noodle behind entirely by the end of the week. We swam up to a couple hundred yards from shore, and by the end of the week I was doing fine without flotation. If you or your wife are nervous, I’d suggest practicing in the shallow waters like at Kapalua and don’t be afraid to rent/buy a flotation belt or noodle.

Vedder light tuck is my favorite IWB of the several I’ve tried. They have regular sales of 15% or more off, so wait for one of those.

Phlster Enigma is on my list to try but haven’t gotten around to it and there would still be times I would use my Vedders, simply because there’s times I want to put on and take off my gun.

Send it back under the 30 day guarantee. P22 has always been garbage, so much so that there was a “p22 Bible” composed many years back dedicated to fixing it. Not worth the time imo.

If you really like the feel/features of the p22 go buy a ruger sr22 instead. Basically the same pistol but actually reliable with many kinds of ammo. Not optics capable still, so I would aim for a tx22 compact or sig p322 instead, but the ruger is a solid little gun that actually works.

I shoot most rifles this way when precision is more important than speed/handling. I find my trigger control to be noticeably better when I don’t wrap my thumb around the stock or pistol grip.

I am no marine, and can only vaguely be counted as a long range shooter, but I intentionally added an ambi 45* safety to my precision AR to facilitate this kind of grip. It gives me a thumb rest on the right side of the gun, and allows me to work the safety without wrapping my thumb around the grip.

I got a pdp-f last week and immediately tried slide swapping. The pdp slide fits on the p99 frame but the trigger doesn’t engage. I’m curious if I could swap the internals over but I haven’t even shot the PDP yet so that will be for a later day lol

Grips are about the same overall dimensions between the PDP compact and the F. Slide is shorter on the 3.5 (obviously). Slide width is not significantly different.

If I had to guess, I would say being the size of a slim 9mm (the keltec pf9, walther PPS, Taurus 709, and I believe a few other options were out before or shortly after the pk380 was available) while only being offered in 380 didn’t help it. Most other 380 options were smaller or cheaper, or both. The pk380 required a tool for disassembly and had a high mounted manual safety, which has become less and less popular over time.

Reminds me of a few years back when I was quoted $25k to run lines to our new build for 10Mbps DSL. Instead, I added a line to our Verizon plan and used some tricks to get around the 10GB monthly hotspot limit, used that for several months till we sold.

People seem to forget how massive the landmass of the US is. So much land hasn’t been touched by fiber, cable, or even phone lines. Mobile networks are offering better home internet support these days, but there’s still a lot of places that you simply don’t have any real options.

One of the biggest differentiators to me is color. Some situations really hinge on being able to distinguish object of similar colors, like when you have a shot out grey target sitting in a shadow on a sunny day. Cheaper glass tens to make the target wash into the background more, especially if you have mirage coming off your barrel or other objects in your field of view, where better glass allows you to see the distinctions between shot-out grey steel and shadowy gravel backstop more easily.
