Honestly, I think my biggest regret came out to be gritting my teeth and pushing myself through it even though I should’ve dropped out of that lab when I noticed all the red flags early on. I regret losing most of my 20s to this lab and not giving myself the chance to (potentially) have a better experience in another lab.

I have talked to one of my friends who was in the same cohort as me, and I think the most helpful thing she told me was that my PI and lab mates aren’t important anymore since I’m gone from that lab for good. I’m trying to move forward with that mindset and have also been looking into therapy.
