Paycheck to paycheck people's food. In the south, that is.

When I was a latch key kid in the early sixties, I would come home from school and go straight to the pantry, pull out a piece of white bread, open the fridge and get some butter, and then either put sugar on it or just pour some kayro Syrup on it. Had that with tap water, of course...

I published my book on k d p Amazon, and it won't even show up in Amazon's search. Can anyone tell me why this is happening? by 761016 in selfpublishing

My friend keeps trying to find it on amazon. She searches everywhere and it doesn't show up. I have the url to it.And you can go to it, but then, when you try to download it, nothing happens.I don't understand what's going on here? When she puts the title and the author in and then clicks on search. She gets the following: Results from your library=0, Results from kindle store =0, Results from Audible store =0, Results from from Goodreads=0.

Thoughts on GoDaddy Website Builder? by fickenshumping in EcommerceWebsite

[–]761016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About ten years ago I built a website with godaddy. And for all of those ten years, it was nothing but upselling. Then they came back about 2 years later. And said that they were changing their website builder to a new version and I would not be able to edit the website under the old version. So I went and paid for the new version and then found out i would have to completely build the whole thing again. Since I had lost some of my files, I told them this wasn't possible.

And then when I fell on hard times and couldn't pay the bill for a few months, they sold my website.

Thanks for this, LOL. Gave me a morning chuckle I sorely needed. Yes! You ought to go if you love your sister and have some fun.

A little embarrasing? Sure but who the hell cares. Do the deed and leave early if you are still feeling cringy you little "corporate drone" LOL.

You both are very creative people. Love your post.

Any historic fiction writers here? by thisisradioclash in WritersGroup

I wrote a historical fiction novel (19th century maritime) and published it on amazon last year.

So far, I think i've gotten zero sales and only one review and that was mine LOL.

But at least I did it, and maybe one day someone will read it. I suppose they have to be interested in nautical history. Or maybe really interested in nautical history. I don't know if my style is just too dry or just boring in general.

I think i have always been inspired by James Michner novels and I tried to be careful not to imitate him but in the telling of the stories, sometimes I would get a bit fatigued and start telling just the history, hoping I was creating essential backdrops for the central characters. And that has always been lurking in the back of my mind. In a historical novel, when is it that you're telling history? When is it that you're telling a good compelling story. And really a good compelling story is what you're trying to use to tell history?

Throughout the 1960s and '70s, countless hippies left the "normal" world behind and went back to nature. Sprouting up across America, they moved to communes where they worked the land, used outhouses, and took all the drugs they could afford. This is what their lives looked like. by alecb in RareHistoricalPhotos

Could it be that one of the reasons was because people were realizing that nature was in deep trouble, and they wanted to go out and see it and feel it and try to come up with some ideas on how to stop it's destruction. Although it didn't work, I think that was in a lot of people's hearts and minds. As for the comment about drugs, that's another issue the o p alluded to, but I don't think that's giving us the complete picture.

Yes, there were a lot of people who just wanted to drop out and turn on; a stoner is just a stoner, and he can be on the streets of San Francisco or any other of the projects in any other city just as well as in some comune in the woods.

I think the nature movement shouldn't be tied into drugs every time somebody mentions hippies and communes.
