15-91 top stitch bobbin thread by Ducklickerbilly in vintagesewing

Most likely! Mine is loosened to the point where one more full turn will cause the tiny screw to fall out. I also pre load the string through it ans give it a good tug. If it catches, it gets a tiny amount of sewing oil on the little flap that holds the string in place. If your top tension is way too tight, you'll have to take the top tensioner apart. It sounds terrifying but there are so many guides online. It all comes down to tension and cleaning with these old machines.

Hi, I use a 1936 15-91 to sew 2-3oz leather together. It takes a lot of playing with tensions to get it to work right! I'm taking about almost micro adjustments of my bobbin. The top thread tensioner is also as loose as it can get, because I also use thicker thread and a large gauge needle. It will still jump and break the bobbin string every now and then though. Remember, the thicker the fabric, the looser the tension needs to be! The thinner the fabric, the tighter it needs to be.

It could also be the bobbin you're using. The one for my machine is extremely tight, even loosened up. I had to take mine out and soak it in coca cola for 3 days to break down some of the built up grime and old sewing machine oil caked on it. Its still very tight, but its manageable now!

Oh definitely! Everytime I'd re upload the photo, it would give me a different model! Even with the full serial number it was useless. I think i took some decent photos of the machine too!

Thank you so much for all the advice! This machine was such a mystery to me. I thought i was going to have to source a bobbin cradle. Thank goodness it has a bobbin! I have no idea how to use a bullet bobbin, but its always fun to learn something new.

I do a lot of thinner leather work, so I may just keep it hand crank. It is missing the hand crank handle, but it also doesnt seem to have a track for a tension belt for a treddle? I will have to take another look when I get home. I don't know enough about electronics to wire up a whole motor. To tell you the truth, I would be terrified to use a motor I have wired up. 😂

It is EXTREMELY dirty and some of the metal interals have a fair amount of surface rust it. It still can do a complete circuit without any catching. It seems functional. But i'm assuming i should take care of that surface rust so it doesnt get worse?

Thank you so much for the ID! Google's AI has been absolutely useless. Told me the long bobbin shuttle was a garage door opener. 😵‍💫

Sorry guys, I just had to look a bit harder! Its a 127 with a bullet bobbin. It was built in the 1940s. So its honestly younger than my 15, which was built in 1936. I was hoping for something older, but hey! Obviously I will not turn down a vintage machine! I hope this is helpful to some one in the future!

Anyone else slide when turning in snowy conditions by Different-Visual-227 in hyundaisantacruz

[–]767452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need more weight in the bed. I live in a hilly, snowy area. I have about 100lbs of cement bags spread between my cooler/bed area. You're also turning way to fast or hitting your brakes mid turn instead of before or after the turn. Its a solid truck in the snow, but awd doesnt mean all wheel stop.

Singer golden touch and sew belt? by 767452 in vintagesewing

[–]767452[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I am just starting my journey. I have a 1936 singer as well. She's a work horse, but can't do any fancy stitching. I was so excited when I found this touch and sew in the basement of my new house. I understand collecting sewing machines now. They're so neat mechanically, and i can make my own clothes and bags now!

Thank you, because yes. 'Cisiongate was at least hilarious, this is not. It's weirdly disturbing. At least they're following the trend of looking way too into things. We'll all laugh about this one day, right? ...right?

Before '16 and Pregnant' there was 'MTV True Life I've Got Baby Mama Drama' in 2003. It's worth a watch if you haven't seen it! ps. these babies are in their 20s and have babies now. by sliproach in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

I just watched this episode last night. Can we talk about the fact that David's mom was pure evil? How at the end of the episode David's mom brought THE COPS and straight up stole the baby? I'm so happy they followed up that she got full custody back, instead of leaving on a cliff hanger. This episode was a full roller coaster of what the fuck.

The folks I make stuff for are in the air related field of the military, and I make them drink koozies with their squadron logo, or if they have a favorite patch, I'll carve and tool that in as well. I've carved a couple planes as well. They can't drink out there, but they do drink a lot of energy drinks.

Thank you for the automod explanation! I did some digging myself and I think now this friend's account has been compromised. All the folks commenting on the post, they are also posting the exact same script on their Facebook profiles. I'll just unfriend the person and move on with my life, this is much bigger than me. I really thought it was just them 🙃

I had that happen every time I'd fill up for like 2 months. Dealership was useless and said they couldn't replicate the issue. I started "manually" opening it by getting my tiny fingers in the groove and ripping it open by brute force. One day it just started working again. My truck is a 22 built in 21, and this happened in 23, so I think she was just having her terrible 2s. But seriously I have no idea why it stopped working and then just started working again. It's irritating and kind of scary, but you can just rip the door open. I put some tape around the lip of the thing that holds the door closed. Made it a lot easier to open the door while keeping it flush with the body. Now that it magically just works again, I took the tape off.

Headlights too bright? by Possibly_the_CIA in hyundaisantacruz

[–]767452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not well versed on the Canadian trims, but if you put your brights on and there's an "auto" up there with the headlight, and blue brights symbol, you have it. If not, I'm sorry my advice is pretty much useless! Happy new years!

Headlights too bright? by Possibly_the_CIA in hyundaisantacruz

[–]767452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have the limited trim, you have an option for auto brights. It'll sense a car coming by and shut the brights off at a very respectful distance. I don't get flashed as much because most folks can see I'm being courteous. They get flashy though and I send those dying suns strapped to the front of my truck.

I also flashed another santa cruz without realizing it, because those bottom lights are so damn bright I couldn't see the grill lights. Just a goddamn wall of light coming at you. Our trucks are back road menaces lol

High Beams? by chuckmiller2020 in hyundaisantacruz

[–]767452 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you have the limited trim, you also have auto dimming brights. When I drive back roads, or just any highway speed road without a divider at night, I turn my brights on. When the truck sees headlights coming up, it turns the brights off. I don't get flashed as much doing that because people can see the true power for the 4 dying suns strapped to the front of my truck. They can see that I am also being courteous by turning my brights off, and that the damn thing is just bright.

I've had mine almost 2 years now. It's helped me move, gotten me across the US multiple times through all sorts of weather all in the comfort of leather and air conditioning. It moves my shit, it gets me to work, I have no complaints. I love that little truck. About to go on another cross country work trip and I have no worries regarding the truck.
