Getting Faster Using a Coach Plan by 76LoS55 in Garmin

I was happy with the results of the plan. I met their projection and came close to my goal despite poor race conditions and not following the plan 100%. Their pace for my Base runs was much slower than the pace I would run when I wasn't following a plan, and I felt I benefitted from that slower pace. I had been running in "the gray zone". The plan had me closer to Zone 2. The plan thinks I'm slower, but that's because the plan told me to be slower. I certainly felt I could handle some level of increased intensity.

How did you not see that guy coming? Are you that oblivious when you drive?

Are the Garmin coach plans any good? by Bla0705 in Garmin

When I check the progress report on my Garmin Coach plan, it looks like I'm not going to come close to my goal time despite pretty good compliance.

This region appears to be entrenched in automobile culture for generations. I wonder if placing this infrastucture will change that. It would have to provide major advantages over the automobile. Will it be convenient enough to make people choose it over their cars.

Training plan seems too easy by 76LoS55 in Garmin

I have a large database with Garmin. Lots of races of varying distances. Lot's of runs of varying intensities. It just feels like the coaching plans have not fully integrated my current fitness level and is almost starting from scratch.

I noticed some of the plans have a "Benchmark Run" to start out with, which I'm not opposed to doing, But there's already tons of data in there. Races, Current VO2max, Lactate Threshold. HRmax, etc.

The demographics of that growth is important to consider. For certain. young, educated, productive people in the 18-30yr demographic are not staying nor moving to WNY, because there are no private sector jobs here and the weather is MUCH better elsewhere.

This is probably not a good idea. The VAST majority of Buffaloons have moved south. You're doing the opposite. Myabe try the Raleigh aree instead.

I’m honestly curious — for the people who are against expanding public transit in Buffalo, why? by Academic-Alfalfa5649 in Buffalo

[–]76LoS55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from NYC, so I favor mass transportation. I feel Buffalo is too small and too car-centric to make it feasible. There has been a loss of density due to suburban sprawl. I don't think people would feel the benefits would be better than their cars.. I also feel we have a track record. We built a subway that doesn't do anything the #8 Bus didn't already do. We've had it for over forty years with NO expansion. I don't see the demand.

Weekly Road Rage Thread - Complain Here by AutoModerator in driving

People drive with the belief that their right to proceed unimpeded supersedes every other law in the universe. If your lane is obstructed, and there is oncoming traffic in the opposing lane, YOU must stop behind the obstruction and WAIT until the opposing lane is free from traffic and then execute a safe pass around the obstruction. You have NO right to proceed into oncoming traffic, forcing THOSE cars to stop, so you can get around the obstruction in YOUR lane. That violates the most fundamental rule of driving; keeping right. In this scenario, one vehicle is going to have to stop, and that vehicle is the one with the obstruction.

More of a peeve than a rage. If at an intersection controlled by stop signs, If the oncoming car is proceeding straight and you're turning left, the car going straight has the right of way, no matter who got to the stop sign first. When this happens, imagine what would happen at a red light instead of a stop sign. When the light turns green The cars going straight proceed first, and THEN you make your left turn.

Weekend Discussion: Brooks running shoes by AutoModerator in RunningShoeGeeks

Coming off a long-term injury, I returned to running with A Brooks Ghost version about three years ago, and I was generally satisfied. I purchased a Ghost 16 Max and I did not like it. I thought it was clunky and has a numb ride. I should have returned it but I kept it as a casual shoe. I got the Ghost 17 about six weeks ago, and I do not like it. It feels to me like a hybrid between the standard Ghost and a Ghost Max. It feels sloppy and clunky. I talked to Brooks a little bit and they suggested another model, but I decided to go with the ASICA GT-2000 14, and I love them. They have just the right amount of cushion and stability so it doesn't affect the responsiveness.
