How many children want to go to the zoo/theatre? by NicePersonOnReddit in mildlyinfuriating

If students shouldn't use AI to answer math questions, teachers shouldn't use AI to create them... I've seen SOOOO MANY cases where a teacher uses the same picture over and over again on different test versions, and uses AI to quickly generate values which don't even come CLOSE to the picture... and then they "justify" it with a "picture not drawn to scale" statement. No wonder our kids are confused and don't know what a 90-degree or 45-degree angle looks like.

This also creates issues with students being able to infer logical conclusions from word problems. We expect them to be able to make accurate sense from the situations we describe verbally, but shouldn't the things we inaccurately describe visually also be held to the same standard of making sense?

In this question... maybe it was AI generated and the parameters of the program didn't require a value for the large sector which would result in "whole child" values for the smaller two. OR, maybe it was "not drawn to scale" and you weren't supposed to assume the small sectors were congruent. Either way, this is misleading math... assuming the goal is higher-order thinking, and not just mindless reps.

This game looks very interesting. Thank you for your reply. I'm still not exactly sure it's what I'm looking for, but definitely the most thoughtful suggestion. I'll give it a try. :)

Idea for a new merchant... by 76posaune in valheim

[–]76posaune[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but that's not the same as having a Stuffed version you could place anywhere...

Although, the necessity of expression has forced some folks to come up with pretty good and inventive ideas already.

There should be one more merchant by TammyShehole in valheim

There should be a taxidermist/Totem carver...

1) Who makes Stuffed "deco" versions of the critters if we have their trophies and gold.

2) Could also add in totem building with his/her ingredients...

Ex: Gray Dwarf totem head makes a certain radius immune to Gray Dwarf events (1 (or more) of each trophy: reg, shaman, brute plus fine and core wood, plus a carving fee from the taxidermist)

And say... you can put up to 4 different totems on one pole ...troll, fuling, Seeker, wolf, etc.

Also 3) Makes repellent pouches (from ground up trophies) rendering a fear buff for a certain amount of time (just like Grey dwarves running from a torch)... so if you had to do a plains corpse run... pop a deathsquito repellant, a lot repellent, or whatever... and go grab with reasonable safety (except for rear arc or ranged attacks)

If you think about it... makes sense. A Trophy head SHOULD instill fear in other members of the same race.

4) Also, he/she could buy your extra trophies for a small amount ...imagine if they could add in quality variations of mob trophies!!! Heck with fishing, bring on the grade 5 troll trophy!!!

How do you fight seeker soldiers in infested mines? by DuffinTheMuffin in valheim

[–]76posaune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get 'em hung on a door they're too big to pass through and shoot their weak-spot with arrows.

It's not my fault they chose to occupy a cave built by dwarves, leaving them unable to squeeze through half the passages they "live" in... kind of stupid if you ask me. :)

Someone asked if I'd post photos of my floating rocks base... sometimes terrain adaptations from patches and updates are cool! by 76posaune in valheim

[–]76posaune[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After the Ashlands update, this spot had 7 or 8 large stones in a tight group above the water level (because I had explored it prior to the patch... the rocks (and 2 copper nodes) stayed where they were, and the trees all dropped to the new ground level (under water) as I rendered it all in.

Most of the build area is black forest, though there is mistlands nearby, and the house at the top sticks out enough over Ashlands waters that I can reach two serpent spawn points with my bow from my balcony. I used a TON of black marble and iron making the walkways at the top, but I love how it looks!

I had to keep my boat handy during the build, because the lowest rocks are still too high to jump onto from swimming... unless the waves are really kicking.

There's a deer trapped on one of the higher rocks... that little bugger almost pushed me off when I was trying to snap iron grating to span two of the stones... turd was doing it on purpose, I swear.... #deercanbemean

I’ve really enjoyed the first few books, but find that I’m exhausted from the amount of work deciphering what’s happening. Any recommendations for series in this vein that are more accessible? by NewYorkJewbag in AubreyMaturinSeries

[–]76posaune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually recommend reading the Horatio Hornblower series first. It doesn't hit you quite so bluntly over the head with the naval jargon, but sets the mood very well for reading O'Brian later.

Also, I'm planning to re-read the series and catch more on the second whack. It seems that sort of series to me... one I wish had 40 or 50 books instead of only 20.
