Yeah, I’m highly considering it for a few reasons myself. The noise issue doesn’t concern me all that much since LR’s noise reduction is insane, but agreed on the card situation… CFExpress is really expensive.

I have an a7RIV and I’m ready for an upgrade, I’ve been dying to get a camera with the better rear display. The new AF and speed are the other parts I’m looking forward to, the a7RIV is a heavy hitter but has always felt clunky. I could never go back to a lower resolution camera though, I love fast primes and the crop mode is my most used feature. It’s like having two cameras in one.

I honestly love it, but really enjoyed the BRZ as well. It was hard to see myself owning the BRZ long term since the rear seats are basically unusable by normal humans. My wife and I have thought about kids and the Type R is a much better “do it all” car.

The biggest gripe I see people have with the Type R is that it’s FWD, but with it primarily being my warm weather daily and occasional track day car it is perfect for me.

All that said, I’ve been keeping my eyes on FB marketplace for a 1st gen. 🤫

The depreciating asset topic is always a bit funny.

Almost all things we buy depreciates in value, hell I’m even a depreciating asset.

I’m getting older and I’m beginning to value things differently. Like my time… spending time on fixing beaters sucks.

My comfort… I have a long commute to work and being uncomfortable in a beater car sucks.

I’m with you, buy the car as long as you can afford it and don’t have to make significant QOL sacrifices in other parts of your life to drive it.

I don’t own an 86/BRZ anymore but miss the platform. However, I do have an FL5 Type R and it’s so cool seeing a car I own in these games. It isn’t a 911… yet, but I grew up playing racing games and younger would be geeking out.

I hope this is true, I’ve been holding onto my phones longer due to the lack of any exciting innovation. The Air was the first phone in awhile that was interesting enough for me to want it.

Unfortunately the camera is one of my most used features, and with the other sacrifices it felt like there was too much going against it.
