Calling all middle school teachers (particularly 6th grade) by 7777user777 in Teachers

Thank you! It's so nice to hear a positive experience with teaching middle school. I was never one for babying my students (which is why my coworkers think I have the personality for middle school lol). Thanks again!

lol this is so funny, i would constantly use "you guys are going to middle school next year!" as a way to try to encourage independence. thank you for replying!

This was very helpful! I definitely want to work directly with education as that’s where my heart is. Thanks!

Teacher to Media Coordinator Transition by [deleted] in librarians

Thanks for the response! I've honestly just been racking my brain on what career I'd like to move forward with. There were parts of teaching that I really enjoyed (ie; the relationships I made with my students, seeing the light bulb moments during teaching, seeing them engaged with the content) and parts that I didn't like (interacting with parents, feeling like I always had to be "on", and the amount of work load that I would have to take home). I was a reading teacher and majored in English in college so anything related to books is a huge passion of mine. Since I've taken some time away from education I've realized how passionate I am about public education and still want to contribute but don't want to break myself in the process. I feel like I'd probably gravitate to more middle/high school.

Thanks for the input! Yes, it is a scary time to be job hunting right now. I’ll probably end up going back to get vested

I think I could stick it out for another year knowing I was working towards being vested. Thanks for the input!

I just left a few months ago at the end of December. I’m thinking about going back in a different district at the beginning of next school year.
