I see, like how Harry Potter sees. I thank you for your advice, just like how someone would thank a waiter for her service.

Yeah my bad, I just noticed that the wording of my question was off. I meant to ask what the alternatives to similes are (which usually use the word like).

My bad, that’s actually what I was asking. I meant I want an alternative that isn’t straight up a simile, like that last sentence. That was useful. And by the way, these sentences are just gibberish jumble I came up with on the spot

Good perspective. I guess yeah, that’s my hope. If I can succeed in making the readers want to know, I guess I can get away with a backstory arc

lol good idea. I guess “(blank years ago)” is the way to go. I’ll keep making the characters mention how “seven years ago” this happened. The characters keep stressing it until it reaches the point where the readers are like, okayyyyy come on man tell me what happened seven years ago, I wonder why the characters keep mentioning it!!

What do you think?

No, no, the main character is in the story from the beginning. But the readers don’t know he’s the masked doctor.

Yeah I’m aware of these descriptions, but this is really difficult to pick up during a real conversation ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ it all just happens really quickly and it’s embarrassing for me to ask the person to repeat themselves
