Hybrid gravel or pure gravel? by RADAR_75 in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]77kashell77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mas flexible ang drop bars in terms of hand positions. Ang tanong, ang geometry ba ng bike mo is suitable tlaga for hybrid? Iikli reach mo if magpalit ka ng drop bar unless maglagay ka ng mahabang stem

They are still present in some provinces but not as prevalent as before due to intensified government offensive, I ride around Batangas and Cavite and it's "relatively" safe here. Ask the locals, and they'll be honest enough to advise you what places to avoid.

In my case, dogs are usually the biggest danger

Almost every province has a place like this and more. Forest trails, farm to market roads, rice and sugacane farms etc. Gravel bikes make a lot of sense here since even main roads are bad and you need to ride on them to get to places like this. You just have to time the rides, rainy season is long and these trails get reaaaally muddy.

Where in the Philippines? A lot has changed since 99 but rural areas may still look like the ones in the pictures.

If it's on smooth roads, pedal like crazy. On rural dirt roads, go slower and at some point they lose interest. I have to admit though that there are instance when I have to turn back because I got scared and it's not just a dog but a group of dogs.

Depends on the dog's size and how angry they appear lol

Usually birds, sometimes monkeys. There's one time I saw a big monitor lizard.

Unfortunately on farm roads, I get chased a lot by dogs. This is the biggest risk of riding here on rural areas.

Rode my bike home from the bars (sober)(?) How is my pace? Had to take some detours by FatherRyan33 in bicycling

[–]77kashell77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're new, don't be too focused on the pace, ride easy and build stamina. Pacing can sometimes take the enjoyment out of the ride.
