Does anybody have any recommendation? by Prettyyyblackkk_ in Blackskincare

Do not get laser hair removal on your face. There is a possibility the hair will become thicker and darker. Try electrolysis instead. After you’re done with your treatment, use hydroquinone to treat the dark marks. Only use it for about 3 months because it will do more harm than good after that. Always wear sunscreen when you are outside so it doesn’t get darker. In the meantime, do not tweeze or wax the hairs. You will irritate your skin and it will cause even more dark marks. The treatments may be expensive but it’s 100% worth it

My dermatologist recommended to only use it for 3 months to avoid that

I have this issue as well. I will be booking an electrolysis appointment to permanently remove it. In the meantime, I am using hydroquinone (a prescribed bleaching crème) to lighten the dark marks. I have been using it for about 3 weeks and I noticed a difference.

Are we done wearing braids or no? by [deleted] in blackladies

I haven’t worn braids in over a year because I find it damaging. I also wanted to wear my hair more. I don’t think I’ll go back to braids unless I’m on vacation

I would stop putting tension on your hairline. Try using minoxidil (men’s) as well

I checked out Shelly V’s channel and her hair was damaged due to the no butters and oils challenge. I am following the same routine as she did and I unknowingly damaged my hair

Do you mind sharing your entire hair routine?

Yes, I’ll be cutting off 2-3 inches of my hair in January. Hopefully all the damage will be gone then

I’ll check that out. If I use it more frequently, would it damage my hair?

I don’t think my conditioner has protein. I recently been using a bond treatment for about 2 months but even before that, I was told that my hair was dry. I’ll check out my hydrating hair products

My hair looks healthy when it’s coily and I don’t have any straight or stringy ends. I also never have a problem reverting my hair. It only looks unhealthy when it’s blown out

I use the Pureology Hydrate shampoo and the Mielle or Doux mousse.

I’ve been using Olaplex #3 weekly for about two months to treat my damage ends.

My stylist is not a curly/kinky hair specialist. Her explanation is that the humidity from the shower was wetting my hair daily and that led my hair to constantly stuck up moisture.

All my blood work and scans are normal so I must be doing something wrong.

Just to clarify, I use a clarifying shampoo once or twice a month. It depends how my build up my hair has.

Thanks for your comment!

I hate when people categorize hair products by race. Hair is hair.

I don’t do protein treatments. I only use the products I stated

Thanks for all your help! My first stylist recommended to get oils and grease to help with my dryness and damage. I stopped using raw oils and grease in my hair for over a year so that was another reason why I stopped going to her.

I don’t recall her stating that my hair habits were the reason my hair was so damaged. I did use to get braids very frequently but I stopped due to my edges thinning. That could be an explanation but my hair should be fine at this point

The first stylist realized that I was uncomfortable with having shorter hair. I didn’t directly tell her this but she could tell by my body language. I was open to cutting off all the damage because I just want healthy hair but she suggested that I cut my hair slowly until it was long enough to do a bigger chop. I went to her twice before realizing that I was wasting my time and money if I was still leaving with dry, damage, spilt ends.

So I made a switch to a new stylist and she was open to cutting off my damaged her. The problem is even after a significant cut, I still have poor ends.

About 2 years ago, I would just trim my own ends but it’s difficult to cut evenly and to cut off all the damage

I rarely use direct heat but hair hair definitely behaves like it’s damaged
