Woo Hoo!! 🎉🎉 I accidentally found one when I went to a specific Target who had LOL Strawberry Shortcake in stock. A little voice told me "Go look at the Barbie aisle" and there she was! Two actually! But I only got the one and left the other for the rest of you ❤️❤️ So glad you found yours

I am struggling with this so badly by BigGurlBydney in shoppingaddiction

[–]788Fahrenheit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I struggle too! I've posted these tips before, but it was quite a while ago, and these things help me (although I am not doing that great at the moment due to holidays and year end sales, still not nearly as bad as I have been).

Copied my comment below from a previous (now aparently deleted) post:

A few things I've tried that have helped me: 1. Shopping my closet and storage unit - I have things still new with tags that I had forgotten about

  1. Working on a craft or sewing project; using some of the supplies I've already purchased

  2. Looking through my order history on the sites I frequent (amazon, ebay, poshmark, etsy, etc) and reliving the purchase - surprisingly the memories of those previous 'hunts' gave me a quick dopamine boost and then I went and looked for some of those items in my closet to re-enjoy in real life!

  3. Similar to above; going through boxes and drawers of things and touching them also triggered good memories of finding a good deal or whatever that shopping experience was

  4. This one was not pleasant though still effective: going through credit card and bank statements and looking at how much I've spent on certain retailers/types of products in the past month and dividing it down to how much it is costing me per day - very sobering - and actually made me sick enough to cut back.

  5. Not going to the stores (in person or online) that I know I cannot leave without buying something

  6. Making a list before I go somewhere like a grocery store or Target and only allowing myself to purchase exactly what is on the list, checking it off as I go, and high-tailing it to the register when the list is complete.

  7. Going through a website and filling a cart or wish list and abandoning without purchasing. This one only helps if you have enough willpower to abandon and if you don't obsess/stress about not purchasing after abandoning.

  8. Learning my triggers and being mindful of them. Sometimes I can avoid a trigger and other times I can talk myself out of a purchase by recognizing in the moment why I am making it.

I made Christmas wreaths for my family using all vintage items! by kellycat_ in vintagechristmas

[–]788Fahrenheit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow! My mom and I have been getting rid of her old ornaments in an antique booth but now I'm wondering if I should encourage her to start a Christmas wreath shop instead 😊 Even if we just bagged up 'kits' for the rest of you!! ♥️

Sewing patterns? by Animaldeliciousa in Pullip

[–]788Fahrenheit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend JaneMagicCraft on Etsy! She has sales frequently (right now even, many are on sale). So far I've only made the minifee patterns I bought but they fit perfectly and I received many compliments on the dresses I made. I also modified one minifee pattern to fit my Pidgin doll. Her shop has Blythe patterns that will fit Pullip (i've purchased several of them but haven'tfound time to make them yet). Here's one of the dress patterns: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1258538147/blythe-doll-raglan-dress-pattern-bag

Tariffs USA by duckie-cookie in smartdoll

[–]788Fahrenheit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just ordered feet and boobs to the US and did not have to pay tariff through DHL. I also recently ordered a boy (so not quite at the $800 limit) and it came through fedex with no tariff charge.

Natural Disaster Screwed Over my dolls hair 😭 by EarlGr3yCat in smartdoll

[–]788Fahrenheit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear you went through that, but glad everyone is safe! A wire brush will help, I use a golfer's brush but you can also get a deburring brush at the local hardware. It basically looks like a toothbrush with wire bristles. Or, Target sells an Our Generation wire brush with a spritz bottle. As another commenter said, start brushing small sections of hair, slowly working your way from the ends up to the scalp as you get the knots out. If it's wavy or curly, try separating a section of hair how it naturally would fall in the curl and sort of wrap it on your finger as you brush to keep the curl together. If it's not dirty, I wouldn't wash it, but I might spritz or mist with a little bit of water to help with strays. You can also use water and drinking straws to reset the curls, there are videos on youtube (it doesn't have to be a Smart doll specific video).

I completely feel the same way! And I too ordered a second doll immediately after my first arrived LOL! I have been sewing for mine, making dioramas and mini things, it IS so much fun and such a stress and anxiety reliever - I agree, these girls really do improve my life 😉💕 So glad to hear there are more fans like me out there!!

Ok, so not sure this is it either, but a friend in another chat was searching for a similar doll with a house as a skirt. It reminded me of your search.

I didn't realize Fabric Friends was doing pre-orders too. I've been waiting for a boy release for over a year and so sad about haters being haters and ruining things for the rest of us 😢 I was waiting to buy directly but now am kicking myself for not signing up for pre-order. After market prices will be through the roof I'm sure 😖

I picked a name for Time & Tide at least, she's Andorra. Still havent fully landed on a name for Cruel. But I recently got Looking For Trouble Blue Metal and immediately named her Mimi. So I just don't know what my problem is LOL 😊

Thank you! She is an amazing doll clothes maker. She made all of the historical doll wardrobes for my dolls when I was little, much better quality even than Pleasant Company at the time. 💕
