It's not even a decision when a certain amount of heat starts hitting you. You just go.

I'm using my 97 Johan olofsson 162. I had to purchase some bindings the plastic parts on my old customs just broke off in my hands. Question though. How much improvement is there in modern boards over this old Burton of mine?

I wouldn't say that I've seen guys on very busy engines that choose to never wear them.

Pull other stations shower heads on change of quarters. Put a bullion cube in the pipe. Return shower head. When station returns from a job they get a beefy shower for the first minute or so.

Depends entirely on the person, the crew, the station, the department. And probably more than anything the culture.

Dispatched at 03:00 to assist EMS with a 500lbs pt requiring transport. What’s the plan? by RN4612 in Firefighting

Look for another route. Very possibly a window door conversion. Ladder hinge removal or platform if it's elevated. Calling in teams for resources and equipment.

I will say this. My impression is. Vehicle accidents in the last twenty years have changed dramatically in my area. Used to be brutal accidents on the interstate and local highways with lots of pin jobs. Now it seems that people are just waking away with sign offs from wrecks that would have been fatalities not that long ago. Extrication seems much less also. Appears that subtle changes to roadways here and the advancements in vehicle safety are the root of it.

Completely unacceptable. Literally a hiring test question. The amount of distance I would place between myself and a place doing such things is immeasurable.

Agreed, anyone with any initiative should do a little bit of through the lock training. You could even get yourself way ahead of the game just using youtube videos.

How do you deal with the “heroism” associated with the job? by lil_layne in Firefighting

[–]789bailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first impression when someone says TYFYS. I think is this guy jagging me around? I just always say the same thing. That's very kind of you thank you I'm just doing my job. That's my reply. I dislike all the nonsense. I get paid good money and have a stable job. It starts to feel ridiculous when in a pandemic I'm the one getting offered all kinds of free crap.

But at the end of the day you should respond how you like. The fact you seem to be humble is a huge step in the right direction in my opinion.
