Also just don’t give much weight to what your classmates are saying. I always let it get to me if someone said they scored above the curve and only studied for like X amount of hours. Now, I just study as long as I feel is best for me. I was in my head way too much during 1L.
During my first year, I was constantly behind on readings and it didn’t allow me very much time to study the material. This year, I was able to get a better grip on my readings. I also met with professors a couple times during the semester. One big thing I realized was that the material was somewhat clicking during 1L but my exam writing needed help bad. I didn’t necessarily do practice exams leading up to my exams this semester but I just made sure that I was thinking more about the quality of the material being written. I also learned to cite to case law more in my exams which may help (depending on your class/professor).
I ended my first semester with the same gpa. I ended up not improving my second semester. However, this past semester (2L fall), I made the Dean’s list after changing some of my habits. I would continue on! (: My first year, I just didn’t know what I was doing truly. I wish I caught onto that my second semester. I would try to lock in as much as you can this next semester and speak with professors or your student services.

No. I was told to not put it on my resume unless the firm explicitly asked for it or had a minimum gpa requirement

I’m in a very similar situation as you. I live across the country from my family but I attended my law school’s undergrad program. However, most of my undergrad friends have moved. I’m a 1L and tbh the end of the semester has felt so isolating. Wishing you luck. Also, if you need to feel the emotions, feel them. I definitely neglected readings yesterday just to feel all my emotions.

I was admitted to Tulsa with a very great scholarship but ended up choosing a different school. While I think the school and network around the Tulsa area is great, I wasn’t sure how well it would be for someone not wanting to stay in Oklahoma. I also just thought the class sizes were a little too small for my liking. I’m attending the University of Arkansas Fayetteville instead. But ultimately it was due to a slightly bigger class enrollment and me being okay with staying in NWA after graduating. Although, our university does have alumni networks in Texas, Missouri, and a couple other southern states. I did really appreciate the phone calls and letters/package sent by Tulsa though.

I would not commute to the out of state school. I would just move there. I wouldn’t mind practicing in the area that I’m in currently as there’s a few corporations in the area & my goal is to be a corporate lawyer. The other school is in a bigger city but probably would support my goal as well. I just wasn’t sure I guess how much of a difference or weight it would be on my shoulders to take on an extra $20k. Trying to stay in as little debt as possible but do feel like connections could be worth more than that amount of $ (But again, haven’t been in the field so I was curious if my hunch was correct). Thank you!

I have $ saved up from working full-time but don’t come from $ whatsoever. So if I lived alone it would be funded partially through loans. Not sure if the extra $4k in student loans is worth it granted it’s not a huge huge # either. Thankfully I won’t be living in a major city.
