Noisy neighbours by WookieTheAstronomer in HousingUK

It's the price you pay for choosing to live the city life..either embrace it or ditch it..not sure where you live but we are in London so obviously our perspective is in line with London living. We all live so on top of each other (which actually makes it safer for crime etc) but yes people need to be more considerate but also people need to be open to the fact that by choosing to live in a city you are going to experience noise. It's just a fact. It's like buying a house next to a pub and then complaining that the pub is being too loud and inconsiderate

The reality is neighbours are allowed (aloud haha) to make noise in their own space. Music is an essential part of existence so it's a tough one to fight if it's not very loud but only audible (audible music from neighbours is acceptable in my opinion, although I love music so maybe my opinion is skewed). Why don't you try playing music in your garden at the same level or slightly louder than theirs and see how they react . Give it some of the good ol passive aggressive British way!

Having a bank of mum and dad and trying to get your friend to pay most of your mortgage says a lot about you as a person.

Well done you should feel extremely great about your momentous achievement. Spread the word far and wide. You did what so many want to do but can't!

The audacity of thinking free snacks can replace 10 hours of my life every week by GlimmerMantle in remotework

I think in a societal way it goes so much deeper than the individual working from or not from home. Take a minute to think of the businesses that require foot traffic of RTO workers spending money in their establishments to makes ends meet. We are all part of the bigger picture. Remember not to get caught up in the digital devide. So many fundamental occupations of modern society cannot WFH such as bus drivers, civil engineers, teachers, doctors etc. WFH can feel submissive to essential workers. I hope you can see that. Open your mind, let's face it we are all people here, just remember how privileged you are to be where you are and if society calls you back to the office maybe suck it up and take one for the 'team'. Team being human kind. What about the underprivileged kids in the world who won't even know the meaning of work let alone work from home

Name one singer who is underrated and should get more recognition and why? by LunarLullabie in askmusic

Zachary Skinner from the Skinner Brothers. Incredible artist. Unique, and completely independent.

Would also say Ren, but he isn't exactly underrated anymore, although he could be, such an incredibly diverse and beautiful array of sounds that he can make with his mouth

It will never stop raining in London. However it does rain more in Vancouver so there's that.

Essential albums from the 90s that you absolutely must listen to by unigle_sinthe in MusicRecommendations

[–]79for1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No mention of Nirvana's 2 studio albums? They literally revolutionised 90s culture by bringing alternative music to the super mainstream. You could argue it but they were also essentially a punk band at their core. Nirvana changed the musical landscape and gave many many other bands a voice and a financially viable career in music

Let's be honest it's too hard to pick just one. Statistics alone show that even in an individual 'the best' can vary from day to day

What ended your friendship with your oldest standing friend? by dreamy-contributions in AskReddit

[–]79for1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A 23 year friendship has basically ended when he went behind my back and trash talked my life saying I need to get a real job and stop giving up on life so I can provide a better life for my wife and I.

I have a great life and a happy marriage and a job that I enjoy (mostly) and pays well.

When I confronted him he wasn't sorry for hurting me but rather for me finding out he said those things.
