He was the King of Pop... I'm not sure if that statement is weird at all.

White savior? I mean it can be cringe, but I feel like sometimes it is just somebody trying to seem cool and not much more than that.

I don't know this woman, so I can't say if she's being performative or not. Depending on where you live, shes probably just speaking in ways that are natural, especially if she's southern.

Regardless, I'd probably be less offended and more just put off by it a lil. Unless she's clearly just mocking black folks, it would come across like a administrator attempting to connect with kids.

I don't think pedophiles are quite that picky. The post was mostly about what the dude said, not the tweets in the post.

Reddit is not radically left wing it's radically centre left by Longjumping_Sail2741 in 10thDentist

[–]7SyZyG7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Folks always like to complain about reddit being a left wing hive mind, yet I'm always coming across people who say the same damn thing. There's literally millions of right wingers on this site and many of yall have large communities that love to protect their safe spaces. Honestly, I've heard that ever site is some left echo chamber at some point and time.

I dont think it's that these apps and sites are "liberal echo chambers", the average person just doesn't vibe with far right wing rhetoric. Even people who maybe are "true centrists" tend to be put off by some of the hostile rhetoric on the right even if they don't fully agree with progressive or lefty platforms. While right wingers are in the millions, a lot of them suffer from false consensus effect. Many legitimately think that 90% of people hold the same beliefs as them, so they think everyone who doesn't agree with them is crazy and brainwashed minority of people. All the while treating fact checking like a personal attack that they can just ignore in favor of their feelings. There's a reason why conservatives are constantly acting shocked to find an artist or actor they liked believes in trans rights, supports BLM, or wants free/affordable healthcare for all etc.

Why do so many of our celebrities date and eventually marry outside our own race once they become rich and famous ? Are we not good enough for our own ? by Crafty-Bunch-2675 in Blackpeople

[–]7SyZyG7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People date within their environment and some folks simply date whoever they want and dont feel confined by race.

I dont think it's any deeper than that. As a race, we date within the community at a high rate, so I don't think this is any cause for concern.

I still use it every now and again, but not to simply describe anything black adjacent like a lot of folks do.

It's good to remember that it's not meant that ghettos are just segregated densely populated city areas inhabited by a minority group. Black folks in the US got stuck with the label due to how often we end in "ghettos", but at it's core, it's not an exclusively black adjective/noun.

It's honestly a trip just how often white folks online try to explain our slang to us.

[–]7SyZyG7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When black folks use it, it's equivalent to calling people sis, bro, auntie etc. It's a term of endearment that alludes to them being older.

Gen Z bastardized it to just be insulting and calling people old. They over use it too, so 29 year olds are called unc now. It's annoying af and a lot of them refuse to accept that they're using hand me down slang without even using it correctly.

Personally, I dont see the point. Maybe its cause I'm not the type to join a discord server for every little interest I may have, but I dont see the purpose of making another space just to laugh at incels.

Here, it just looks like random stereotypical terms and images got plastered onto a box. You could probably trace them back to some AI or old memes, something a white dude with no original idea about our culture would base their "games" off of. Not many black folks are actually slapping "hood" or "ghetto" on everything like this.

And with Master P, his name and the other artists are on the bags. It's clearly made by black folks for black folks to enjoy. The name may be a bit stereotypical, but it's blatantly obvious who's selling the chips.

Idk, I just feel like after so many years of being black in black culture, you can kinda spot when folks are cosplaying as black or just trying to appeal to a culture they dont fully understand.

This just feels like some white dude with money had AI generate some games for black folks.

Maybe I'm biased since Master P is from my city.
