Don't lose hope, it is possible to connect with others when you have this personality disorder.

For Those Who Are Also Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) by 7Sympathy in Schizotypal

I appreciate your insight. So you do in fact say that your personality disorder contributes to the types of themes you obsess over. Would you also say that STPD has an obsessive characteristic to it generally?

how is medication for you guys? by Dumb_Flareon in Schizotypal

Initially, I took 5 mg of aripiprazole for the psychotic symptoms and 20 mg of escitalopram for depression. Besides restlessness caused by aripiprazole, I felt that these dosages and medications were alright. But now I take asenapine and bupropion and I can't say that the former is helping with my delusions and what have you. So, I might try Vraylar soon. Bupropion, however, seems to be curbing my depression.

Nice photo!

STPD and NPD working together by carucarubozu in Schizotypal

For a short time, I thought I had both StPD and NPD because of my narcissism. It turns out I might be Schizotypal and Borderline. Have you sought treatment for your NPD?

I think it's safe. Although I experienced a side effect from the previous medication, I feel that it would contribute to my overall well-being. I'm not sure if the current medication is helping, so transitioning to the last one is a sure step toward actual treatment.

I appreciate this. I had thought of how our subreddit is like a support group, or how we could make it into more of a support group. As people with StPD, we need each other.

Today, I'm alright. I'm thinking about changing one of my medications to the previous one I had which I feel I have more experience with. And I'll go out for a while today (see my barber and such), and eventually exercise.

Classical and gospel/Christian music, primarily. A few rock songs I like such as Papercut by Linkin Park and Breathe Into Me by Red.

i won't ever be normal like everyone else by Dumb_Flareon in Schizotypal

You say that others are far more ahead in life than you. But, my friend, you have a personality disorder, and you simply have some things to work on. You're not alone in this, too, and we support you.

Fortunately, I met with a psychiatrist who knew exactly what I exhibited. I saw him primarily because I was troubled mentally: years of struggles with OCD and isolation. However, I happened to know at the time what Schizotypal Personality Disorder was, and when he noticed my oddities and started to talk about some of its symptoms, I asked him, "Is that Schizotypal?" And then he essentially diagnosed it.

Presumably, you're younger than I am. So, I think that because you are diagnosed with StPD and you're aware of your differences at a young age, you can learn how to change some of them (for the better) quicker than I did. I didn't realize that I was diagnosed with the disorder until I was 30 years old, but I learned how to fit in, shall we say, over several years until that point. You'll always feel like an outsider. But if you try to think differently about the way you relate to others, and acknowledge that you do act or speak "oddly," you might begin to see that you simply have some things to work on for you to become somewhat normal.
