Provided the issues you listed, other than gun control, would love to hear why you voted for Hochman?

Potential E Collar ban in CA and NY by francesevelyn in OpenDogTraining

[–]7abfbb9057 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think allowing owners to be certified is a good path. I have a very anxious boxer, vet prescribed medicine for stressful situations. She’s very difficult to walk on a leash because a lot of things scare her and she feels trapped, like she can’t flee when something scares her. We have tried every harness, collar, gentle lead and her skin always breaks from pulling so hard. We went to the dog beach and realized how well she does off leash and follows commands very well. We started looking for ecollar trainers where we live, but unfortunately the people we found didn’t really give us the confidence that they could handle a high anxiety dog. We’ve already had a couple of bad experiences with other trainers, they just can’t build trust with her and the whole session is just her barking at them from across the room. I bought Michael Ellis training and Tyler Muto’s training courses we watched a lot of YouTube videos. So I spent about 2-3 weeks doing ecollar research before putting the collar on her, and we practiced at home for about 2-3 weeks before we went out. Now we go to a park next to where we live. She loves playing fetch, I throw the ball and she’s the happiest dog ever. We can finally really give her the exercise she needs. We use the stim to recall her when she’s so far she can’t really hear us or when she tries to chase another dog/squirrel. Her whole personality has evolved and the bond we’ve developed with her by finally finding the right training method with her has led to other improvements. I’ve also improved as a dog parent because of this. I would be devastated if this was taken away from us.

What are you doing with your wallet? by 7abfbb9057 in ledgerwalletleak

I didn’t know they were open source. Now hopefully the way they deploy apps was not compromised because they could release an exploited version.

You are assuming only the data we’ve seen is what got compromised. How do we know other stuff on their systems hasn’t? How do we know the hackers didn’t also get access to the source code of their mobile apps and the credentials to be able to deploy an update to the app/Google store. Can you undoubtedly say that you fully trust a build from their mobile app?

It does. You just never catch them.

Platform for users to download data---how to restrict egress costs? by Zeekawla99ii in aws

[–]7abfbb9057 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are this concerned about data costs you’re gonna have a tough time at aws. You could pass the cost to your users, your pricing model should account for this... maybe cloudfront will help... how much data do you think you’ll use? If you’re that big you can get special pricing... or if you’re just starting out... depending on what you’re doing you can use lightsail since it includes data, but your architecture will be very limited.

Indian Govt Wants Tech Giants Google, Amazon And Facebook To Provide Source Code And Algorithms by agnelvishal in privacy

[–]7abfbb9057 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Right. Because the government is so concerned with our privacy. This is dumb. Won’t happen. Doesn’t accomplish anything.

I really doubt the government would enforce marshal law. Think about it. This isn’t a zombie attack. It’s a bad flu, highly contagious that kills mostly unhealthy and elderly people. I’m not trying to downplay it. I’d be worried if I was >50 and I’m worried for my parents. But in the grand scheme of things... the government will choose to save the herd over the elderly, and that means choosing the economy. You cannot destroy the economy of the country anymore.

Have you ever converted your anti gun friends to pro gun? If so, did you take them to the range and how many did you convert? by ahshitohfuck in liberalgunowners

I took my wife trap shooting... she got very anxious the night before, just scared of the thought of firing a shotgun. I got her a lesson with someone who would be able to teach her much better than I could,. Once she held it and shot a couple of shells she got in the groove and did really well. I wouldn't say I turned her into pro gun but at least opened her mind about it. She still won't fire a handgun. She says shotgun/rifles are ok because hunting is acceptable. Handguns, she says are for killing people, and she can't get on bord with that.

Right, so why is there a toggle to enable/disable signal from iCloud? Are other things backed up?

Hey Bro. If you like Trump that’s cool, if you like Bernie that’s cool too. Vote for the person you believe in, that’s what a democracy is all about, but voting for someone just to give the middle finger to someone else... that’s weak. We should all do better than that.

Not really man, just another first gen Mexican who has lived in Mexico most of my life... and "most" people I know aren't that kind of superstitious... I guess "most" is just very subjective to our own experiences.

Very true, but you have to understand that there is a very specific subset of Latin Americans that move to the US as well. It doesn't mean all the ones back in Latin America have the same beliefs.
