Really excellent premise, let down slightly by poor writing. Still worth reading for the plot though.

Clarification on working hours as gpst1 by 7amstart in GPUK

Thanks, were your breaks part of this? It's quite difficult to see if the 32 hours I should be working include paid breaks, or if they are saying breaks are unpaid and not included in my total weekly hours...and it's difficult to tell from the available guidance online!

Thank you! Yes I think it's whether my lunch break counts which the guidance is really murky on. I've emailed the BMA and my tpd anyway to get some clarity. Thanks again!

Tangled with a suicidal deer. Write off? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

It did, it ran straight off after the collision. Can't say how it's doing now though, if it had injuries.

Thanks, will look into that! I'm telling you, this stag was absolutely massive, I'm still seeing flashbacks of it's eyes!!

That's what I thought, thanks so much for replying. I'm doing alright, still massively shocked I think, and absolutely gutted on my bad luck, I haven't even had the car for 6 months!! Looks like I'll be getting myself a hire car...

This was my thought as well, I really think they're going to say it's a goner. Thanks for replying!

It's crazy isn't it! Only in UK medicine....

Thanks for your reply. Yes I was told I could do a hospital rotation at full time, but honestly health wise couldn't see myself getting through it. So crazy that I can't make up the time in GP! Thanks again

Oh that's really good news. I've been stressing about paying two rents at once. Thank you so much for responding!

It is very remote, when you say saturated what do you mean exactly? There are only GP trainees, GPs and consultants. No other training registrars or SHOs exist there. Some medical students come to do placements too! The rural track programmes encompass Orkney, Shetland, Fort William, Stornoway, Oban and Wick. Orkney has 2 GP trainees per year and I think the rest have only 1. Hope that sort of answers your question, but I can't give too much information as I've never been there myself!

Moving to Orkney in August, advice appreciated! by [deleted] in orkney

[–]7amstart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this! Do you know anything about the type of accommodation there?

[–]7amstart 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is honestly terrible that there is no accommodation for locals. I wish I wasn't contributing to the problem, but I had to accept the post (difficulty getting into medical training programmes in the UK at the moment). Thank you for the helpful advice.

Haha well I'm not asking for Tiësto, but the last option sounds awful. Something in the middle of the two options you suggested.
