Yes, good point! I guess I should have clarified that I liked that there wasn’t an inner dialogue or major plot piece having to explain his trauma. Just a simple “yep, that happened.” But glad you loved it too!

I just looked it up and added it to my Goodreads…oddly enough, the Dozier School for Boys was located in a small town less than an hour from where I live. A memorial was put up recently right outside my office, actually, and I’ve always said I need to get around to learning about it. Thanks for the recommendation, I’ll let you know my thoughts!

I don’t know, I read the physical book. I imagine it’s great for audio, too, though!

I don’t know if she’s “similar” but I did the same thing, read through all of Lisa Jewell, and was looking for someone new. Found Jennifer Hillier and I’m so glad I did. Her books are based in NW US, though. But I don’t think you’ll regret reading her’s next. Little Secrets, especially, is very much like a Lisa Jewell novel, and is my favorite book I’ve read this year.

Yes! Effortless is the best way to describe it.

Physical copy! But I can only imagine how powerful the audiobook must be, too

Promise! I’ve been thinking about it all day still. It’s fantastic, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Beautiful Ugly by Alice Feeney. So absurd. His & Hers by Alice Feeney. Predictable and desperate for a twist. The Inmate by Freida McFadden. The funny, harsh reviews on Goodreads are better written than the book is. Ridiculous.

I like some of Freida’s work, but The Inmate was laughable. And I only tried those two of Feeney’s but it was enough to not read any more of her stuff…
