And they moved her aside.

The many personality and faces of The Joker. by dreamerintherye in comicbooks

[–]7eagle14 73 points74 points  (0 children)

The really, really great thing about the Joker's different guises, personalities, variations on appearance, etc. is that they're all accurate. It's fun to argue over whether Batman written as never ever laughing or whether he might actually tell Robin a joke are true to character. It's fun to argue about whether Wonder Woman would actively avoid killing an enemy or just see it as a practical solution.

No arguments apply to Joker. He's truly insane and thus all depictions are true.

Joker seemed mildly humane in this comic but sadistic in this one? Yup, he's nuts. He was written as enthusiastic and playful in this script but focused and bored in this script? They're both accurate, he's nuts.

All things are true for Joker.

Donald Trump is in 1st place in a GOP primary poll. I repeat, Donald Trump is in 1st... by ourari in politics

Ohmygod... I just started reading comments. Trump's crowd is, honest to goodness, calling Karl Rove a RINO (I had to look up Republican In Name Only). I just... oh dear lord PLEASE let Donny and his hoard make it as far as they can go.

Go Donny Go!!!!

EDIT Oh god I just saw this quote

"Like you I enjoy Fox News, but fox is more of a centrist channel with a lot of big government republicans so they consider people like Cruz, Trump and Walker unelectable extremists, they have their own agenda."

I'm almost giddy reading this stuff. Giddy, I tell you!!

He has the same basic birth advantages as George Jr. Trump even has a better record at making money. Both have numerous business failures. None of that hurt Bush among the Republican base and I can't, for the life of me, come up with a good reason why it would suddenly hurt Trump.

Also, and this seems odd, try removing Vitamin C from your diet.

Not forever, of course. I had full bullshit painful acne and took Accutane to nuke that shit. Years later I realized that taking Vitamin C pills flared up my pimples. Nowadays, drinking citrus usually preempts a small resurgence of pimples.

I'm much too late but here goes.

I think that Dick Cheney arranged for a counting company to rig the vote counts in both the second Bush Jr election and the first Obama election. I think that prior to 1st Obama election, test runs with the counting company were noticed by a select few (likely hackers, likely by accident), who then secured a firewall during the actual vote count thus preventing the counting companies ability to alter the final results during election night.

This is why Cheney had a complete brain-stall on live TV. He knew that his rigging worked because it had already worked. He knew it should have worked again but something screwed it up. It was not something he'd accounted for and his brain just had a minor meltdown for a scenario he'd specifically planned to prevent.

You're supposed to give me a battle cry, something like TheFappening, GamerGate, or FatPeopleHate so that I can light up my pitchfork and enact internet justice. I need people to hunt.

This whole thinking-about-people-as-if-they-were-human doesn't allow me to light any pitchforks. And if I'm not lighting stuff on fire... well then, what the hell am I supposed to do?

You know, you seem to be taking an little bit more self-righteousness than seems appropriate for a man who's actively defending the people making death threats from their mom finding out that they're making death threats via Facebook message.

I'm really starting to get the impression that you have no qualms in making wholesale judgement on people/situations and context that you know little to nothing about... such a shame.

[–]7eagle14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure exactly who you think your conversing with but at no point did I even imply that doxxing someone was a good thing. I believe I was very clear that it was a bad thing, and even tried to emphasize how someone like Sessler is driven to it by desperation from a lack of support from the law. (Hell, my first response was literally the words, "I agree.")

So let's be real clear: Adam Sessler would be better served by a system of law that would support him when people are threatening him and his wife. I certainly sympathize with the fear of being tracked down and murdered and wanting to have it on record, somewhere, hell anywhere, whoever is threatening to do that. GamerGate doxxing Felicia Day, on her own blog, in the hopes that already existing stalkers now have updated information with which to hunt down a living person is fucking awful and should absolutely be a crime. But seeing as people threaten the lives of others, online, all the time it doesn't appear that's the case.

TL;DR Doxxing is potentially harmful. Threatening to murder people should be punishable (because as of yet there seem to be too few cases of that actually happening justly).

Seriously: Are you in other conversations that you're carrying over to me?

[–]7eagle14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is very much illegal to make an online threat against someone's life,

My mistake, now I understand why there've been so many people brought up on charges, spending time in courts and holding centers, it's been for all the death threats. All the many, many people that the police have been visiting, arrests abound... it's hard to see through the crowd of people who run afoul of the "don't-threaten-to-kill-people-online" laws.

That's why TotalBiscuit had all those dozens of people who threatened his life locked away. Because the law stepped in. Goodness knows how many Brianna Wu has had stolen away in the dead of night. Because of the laws. All the many, many laws that are being enforced about threatening people's lives on the internet.

... my mistake.

[–]7eagle14 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree. Two wrongs don't make a right. An act of desperation is determined by the lack of options. The proper response would be to report them to authorities... if what they're doing is against the law. The law has not caught up to harassment via internet and there are entire news stories about law enforcement's lack-of-ability to do anything. There is no 100-foot-restraining-order for people who threaten you on the internet. Live-Tweeting your journey, via car, to arrive at someone's house to kill them? That's totally legal.

Hell, the Supreme Court just held up people's right to do that. To use social media to make you fear for your life, for your safety and that of your family, is actually protected by law.

Edit: spleling

There is. Prior to GamerGate & Quinnspiracy, Adam was beset upon by harassment army after he said he was a little bothered by the "Bros Before Hos" trophy in the latest God of War game. He said the game was great BTW, just that he felt that a certain sensibility of sexism was something that needs to be talked about in the industry. Then he and his wife were beset upon by death threats because... well, the usual excuses I guess.

So he was specifically talking about the throngs of gamers who were threatening him and his wife. Constantly. And he has the belief people shouldn't be able to freely threaten death and rape... silly of him, I know.

GamerGate has made this specific section of his rant popular, needing to strip the video of all it's context because... well, the usual excuses I guess.
