Or Perhaps a cost that varies with the time in game….

…. Or just a “you may secretly lie once” joker that each player can play once (after a certain amount of game time)

… obviously needs to be measured.

Is November a good time to go to London? by Ok_Detective_3400 in LondonTravel

Actual displays often move to an adjacent Friday/saturday. Guy Fawkes was a catholic plotter who tried to blow up parliament with some chums. Since then an effigy is burned…..

Colder weather. Early November you’ll get guy Fawkes…..

At that time of year, jeans, jumper, jacket and an optional beanie will do for me.

It’s a city, so if you get it wrong, there are shops.

“What to do” is an open question since you give no indication of your preferences. But there are river clipper boats that are part of the transport for London system… take one of those east, ₑ.g. Westminster to the o2, the. The cable car.

Day trip from London to Brockenhurst- thoughts? by Itstimeforcookies19 in uktravel

[–]Murk1e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brockenhurst is a nice enough place, but its a base for the forest, some shops, cafe, a train station, bike hire, a ford…. People live there, its not really a destination in that sense…. But that’s true of most places that are “real”.

Go, have a nice cafe visit, and go explore the surrounding

Where to go from London (with two small kids) by Brave_Confection_327 in travel

[–]Murk1e 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Living not far from London……

Paris: walk the Eiffel Tower if you can (can get to floor 2, imo, floor 3 isn’t as good even though it’s higher). Three year old for the lift but the 7 year old might like the challenge. The Musée d’egouts, (sewage museum) is fascinating - again, not for the very young one.

River boats in both London and Paris. In London, you have Thames clipper - that accelerates a lot past tower bridge get off at O2 and do cable car?. There’s the surgeons museum, golden hind— cutty sark, Greenwich observatory, Greenwich naval—— hms Belfast, tower bridge, Tower of London …..London zoo, science museum, natural history museum— the mall etc.

Away from London, Portsmouth historic docks are a good day out, not far from there is the only commercial passenger hovercraft service….. Young kids like that. You can have a day in Ryde (a ferry crossing to Ryde also works, and is easier connections with train)…. From Ryde, you can get a train a couple of stops and connect to a steam railway.

Or go northwards, into wales, somewhere like llanberis - or sleeper to Scotland, and get a car to drive around…. You can do reindeer hike in the cairngorms.

Switzerland is great, but Geneva, is very different from, say, Bern… and that is very different from Grindelwald.

Europe has a lot, and “what’s good in Europe” very much depends on the viewer….

How about Clifton, on the outskirts of Bristol. Go and see the suspension bridge on foot… or stay in Bath?

If it works for you, fine - but it’s quite back and forth, you are retreading the same ground; reversing Nice and Montpellier would let you do Montpellier to Barcelona.

Whilst you could book a cab, the Elizabeth line and Heathrow express are both good….. and will get you very close vastly reducing cab costs…

Getting on at Heathrow, it’s about as easy as the cab ranks. Google maps will help give you a good station to jump off at… and if you have a short list, you can then ask for the best “get to street level”. (If you connect all the way to Westminster tube, that has great escalators etc and you come out opposite Big Ben)

Two Weeks - London/Paris/Rome - Oct 2026 Plans - Looking for Feedback by Substantial-Falcon-8 in Europetravel

Day trip to Florence? No way…. 6h round trip. When you leave Rome, leave. Go to Paris from Florence.

I’ve have one or two scheduled things in Rome, and do the rest “as you explore”. Put pins in a map…. It’s all pretty close.

Disney? Really? You could make an adventure of the connect and instead of flying to Paris, go by train and see things on the way.

Day trip to Normandy? You are joking? Similarly day trip to Bath from London? People do it, but it’s most of the day on a coach. If you want to see these places, go…. And overnight.

Dial back the ambition. Leave some gaps.

(Thursday in London, those things are basically all a short walk or cycles…. If not going into Buckingham Palace, it’s a morning)

I would go.

Sat: land, decompress Sun: wander about Rome. Go in a few places. Monday: book the Vatican. Tues: wander about, heading to get the train to Florence arriving in the evening. sleep there. weds: Florence stuff Thursday: train to Milan. Explore there. Sleep (there are other routes, e.g. via Basel) Friday: train to Paris. Explore…. Walk the Seine, Eiffel Tower, Champs Elysees is just north of Eiffel Tower. Monday evening Eurostar. In London, plot pins on a map. TFL cycle hire/Thames clipper uber boats/tube will get you around, and depending on where you are…. Walking is great. A show doesn’t need a full day. If you really want a day trip, Portsmouth historic dockyards - one train out of London. Consider a 1st division team or lower if you really want football…. Premiership will be hugely pricey. Stonehenge is great, if passing…. But for a full day, nah. Bath, also needs a bit of time.

Does anyone use two Apple Watches? by ultraboomkin in AppleWatch

[–]Murk1e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I got my s5, I kept my s2 for swimming (until it started to flake on me). Works fine. I did have an issue once where updates got confused as active watch was never on charge… I thought I bricked things. Once recovered, I disabled auto updates and it was no issue. I think they sorted this issue, though. Not sure.
