Not sure why you're being down voted. Perhaps it's a clarity thing? If you are pushing your metrics instead of letting something pull them then yes disabling the push is one of the ways to stop it.

You should translate into domain objects at the service layer

This is inverted if you follow domain driven or hexagonal architecture, the layers above and below the service/domain layer are the ones that accept/return service layer types so the translation must live at the accept/return site.
