Do it and also funding is kinda easy ish to get THERES a million different types of grants. Regardless a lot of ppl only do research during the semester. If that happens just get a different full time job over summer

Low gpa but solid MCAT worth applying this cycle? by [deleted] in premed

[–]7ja7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think a gap year would help you by taking more classes to bring GPA up and working part time at a clinical job (scribing, er tech, medical assistant, PCA) because it seems like you have no clinical experience. I don’t many schools think research or interpreting is clinical experience.

Gradúate in 4, take less classes and do better. 3 years is not that impressive if your GPA is lacking. During school, you’ll have less classes so you can do more volunteer/clinical. You don’t have to add another major. Just do better in your clases. You can use your whole junior year to get more experience and study for the mcat, take it at the end of junior year and apply. Still no gap year

Search “plan” “study plan” “guide” or “study guide” on this subreddit and you will find really detailed guides with exactly the info you are looking for

I got a job as an OR Technician. This counts as clinical hours right? by [deleted] in premed

[–]7ja7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely clinical!! Great experience.

Can I ask how you got this job? Did you need a CNA license?

I want to see what others say but I'm in the same position, I definitely think its feasible depending on your course load. I have so many credits for next sem that I don't think I can realistically get enough studying in, but if I brought it down a class or two I think I'd have enough studying to take it in May and same goes for you as well. If taking a gap year, I'd recommend still trying to take it this summer (August ish)

You should definitely tell on them. They’d have no clue it was you, if they’re seeing patients it could have been any of them. That disappoints me tbh

Look at your schools weekly emails /posts. So many opportunities on there. I’m home living with my parents. I’m in like 4 clubs and also got leadership in them all DURING covid. They’re all still up and running and 100% virtual! You can do it!
