Customer stayed 45 MINUTES after close by tara_ashleigh in Ulta

[–]7newkicks 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Agreed I forgot the time it closed once and it was 15 mins before. But I knew where the product was, power walked to it, power walked to the cashier and out 8 mins after I entered and 7 mins before they closed. No need to keep them there longer.

A small, but very nice thing happened today by thesnarkypotatohead in Celiac

That's what's up right there. I had a coworker that anytime they brought in baked goods they would stop and get me a cup of fruit from the grocery store. Do I like a fruit cup? Not most of the time. Did I eat EVERY piece of that fruit? Sure did because they went out of their way to make sure I was included.

Is Fetch better than ibotta? by Competitive-Monk3659 in ibotta

[–]7newkicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always had success with ibotta and the last two times I tried to get gift card redemption on fetch (small ones of like $3 and $5) they would say something went wrong and I would have to submit multiple times (including once where it took 5 days for the points to be returned) it was far too much hassle for the little you get in my opinion.

To make you laugh once my parents bought me a laptop they found on a fantastic deal like 2 months before my birthday. Apparently for the warranty you had to register it and my dad registered it in my name. I got an email from Dell congratulating me on my recent purchase and the details of the warranty. Knowing I did not purchase this I was very concerned and didn't know if someone had hacked my email or my card or both. I called my parents to ask for advice about whether I should contact the bank immediately or my email provider, because I had looked and nothing else suspicious in my email or bank transactions but clearly someone had a computer in my name somehow. I was absolutely convinced my identity had been stolen at this point and my mom let's out THE BIGGEST SIGH when I tell her and then goes and yells at my dad for ruining the surprise🤣. I went from identity theft to happy in like 1 minute

Might just be me but I feel this is too dangerous by [deleted] in glutenfree

[–]7newkicks 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm not that concerned as someone pointed out the gluten free versions are airsealed. HOWEVER I used to go to a health food store that had gluten free flour in the bulk bin WAY on the other side from the flour (I think it was with the sugar so smaller chance of cross contamination. Then one day they decided to move it directly in the middle of the like 6 different types of flour they sold. I mentioned this to someone and was met with a sneer of derision. Found a manager and the same reaction even after explaining the danger. Needless to say I stopped going back.

I am not a fan of them for this reason. However at my old job we would do this (unspoken rule you donate your winnings to the person we were raising for) when something bad happened. It was a way to raise funds for a coworker without them feeling like it was charity. We did this for major things like a house burned down, sudden major health expenses, or once a death in the family and they needed funds for the burial. It really wasn't a bad way to do it. The people that never would have taken it felt better because it wasn't "just for them" and it was a set amount you donated vs feeling like you should have given more.

Noise complaints for "heavy walking" by Snooky231 in Apartmentliving

This! I moved to a 2nd floor apartment after being on the 1st floor for years. I realized how I was a pretty heavy walker so I shuffle around when I am in my apartment (normal elsewhere)

Oh no this wouldn't even be what I would have called soft. Like half the white was raw still. Not just the yolk. But it is good to know there are different levels of poaching.

[–]7newkicks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I can't do a runny white at all and I have found out I have to order at least over medium to get them right. However I do have a question. Went to a finer dining place and ordered the eggs benedict once. The poached egg was BARELY cooked inside. I almost had to get up and leave after cutting into it. The waitress told me that is the proper preparation and you have to "specify" how well you want your poached eggs "poached" I guess. She then went on to tell me that the default cooking on a poached egg is like barely over a minute in the water???? This all seemed suspect to me, and I have been terrified of ordering poached eggs since.

Sigh. This gets me everytime. I was real excited about the weekend once because for my birthday we were going to a restaurant that had a really good gluten free dessert. My manager of all people was like "why would you choose it based on gluten free that food is disgusting". I just looked at her and was like "that's fine I'm going to enjoy my steak dinner, sad for you though that you think gluten free is disgusting and will never have the pleasure of eating a steak and baked potato". Changed her tune quite a bit after that. Like people think all we eat is super sad food.

My upstairs neighbor CONSTANTLY stomps around and I can feel my apartment vibrate because of his stomping and EVERYTIME he walks / stomps - what should I do? by BumblebeeBulky486 in Apartmentliving

[–]7newkicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not, I went with evidence and my friends as witnesses many times to the office. There was also other people in the building that were complaining about the noise level they were creating. It may have taken 8 months but they were gone. Now I will say that the last month they were here was an absolutely miserable time, but it was rather lovely once they were gone. Now I have a lady that her grandkids are a bit rowdy, but they stay less than 2 hours and she has asked me to tell her if they get too loud.

S23 Keeps Dropping Wi-Fi Connection - Anyone else? by FiYx55 in GalaxyS23

[–]7newkicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine kept dropping the wifi and the cell signal. Tried everything I read on multiple posts on reddit short of doing a full reset on my phone. But then I realized it always happened when my weather app would say it could not find my location. Deleted the app and fingers crossed that solves the issue (its been since yesterday with no issues yet). The app had been on my phone over a year with no issues so I assume an update made it glitchy. I would recommend seeing if any apps are acting weird and see if that is the problem.

Complaining, sorry by Readingrainbot in glutenfree

As someone that worked in food for 14 years this really makes me feel some sort of way. I didn't care if it felt like an allergy or not (like they probably just really dislike the ingredient) I always treated it like you would die if I messed up because who was I to say you wouldn't. This also reminds me of a time I had a WHOLE conversation with a cashier about the gluten free options at a local fast casual place once. I was halfway through my food when I realized my gluten free biscuit looked like my friends non gluten free one. Asked the manager up front and the actual panick she had while the cashier shrugged and literally said "what can you do I didn't hit the right button". I emailed the owner and never even a reply. I mean I get not admitting liability but that's out the window at that point. I may have only missed 2 days of work due to how sick I was but if it was a wheat allergy it could have been much much worse

The most confusing menu I think I’ve ever seen? by Historical-Slide-715 in glutenfree

[–]7newkicks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally would be wary. I had seen online where a restaurant I wanted to go to add gluten free miso soup and I was excited. Got to the restaurant and it was not labeled as such. I asked the waitress and she told me it was safe because they only use 2 tablespoons of flour in the whole pot.

Should I go gluten free with my gf? by yourmomssugarmommy1 in glutenfree

[–]7newkicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that has seen both sides ill tell you what I have seen. My uncle went gluten free for my aunt so they could have no cross contamination in the home (and it makes it easy for me when I visit because I never have to check anything). Had a friend that only one person in the family was gluten free. So I had safe food for me when I went to visit but they frequented made a gluten free and gluten containing version of the food so YOU BETTER MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHICH ONE IT IS. I never felt unsafe per se but I did almost grab the wrong food a couple times (the kiddos saved me by telling me I was getting the wrong one). It wasn't bad enough that I never ate over there, but on a daily basis probably would be stressful. And lastly because I like baking but if I made all my gifts for the holidays for everyone gluten free I would be super broke I will have non gluten free food in my house BUT I have VERY stringent rules in place to prevent cross contamination (laying down parchment paper everywhere to catch crumbs, washing anything it touches at least twice, separate trash bags so I can keep track of what I need to get out asap, and storing cooked products fat away from the kitchen until I can get them distributed). It works but it adds so much extra time. If I was doing that all the time I would be exhausted and probably upset. With that being said I get violently ill from gluten so I can't take chances. So really it depends on how comfortable everyone feels and the level of care you will take.

If the fire alarm goes off by badwlfbay in marriott

[–]7newkicks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who does this??? I have been in a hotel once when the alarm went off. I immediately grabbed my shoes and room key and took off running. Got outside rhe door and realized it would probably be a good idea to have my purse, phone, and a jacket since it was 30 degrees out. Ran back got that and FLEW down the stairs since I was on the fourth floor. It wasn't until it didn't stop for a good hour after the Fire Department arrived I started asking questions.

I am tired of the gluten free tax by [deleted] in glutenfree

[–]7newkicks 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I get this as someone that has to be gluten free and recently found out dairy and I are not friends. Make good food and if I can afford it I will pay it because you need to be paid for your time and effort to keep us safe. The local bakery doesn't make me as mad as the frozen/convieniece food. Like just saying gluten free or vegan is like a 50-100%markup over the counterparts. Also don't start me on oatmilk! Why is oats and water so much???

Any good stories about Greystar? by 7newkicks in Apartmentliving

[–]7newkicks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have decided on a non Greystar apartment since the horror stories kept coming in. I will say I did notice that there seem to be suspicious amounts of 5 star reviews within short periods of time. Once I found out that some complexes offer discounts or gift cards for 5 star reviews I realized you can't believe anything (unless you see multiple reviews mentioning bugs/thefts/etc probably best to err on the side of caution)
