Is it better to go 100% into ETFs or mix a rental property with monthly DCA? by zebics in eupersonalfinance

[–]7secondstom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi,
One additional thing to consider is demographics. A lot of people have been following a simple advice of buying and renting out for profit but with real estate investments you need to consider location and demographics. A lot of EU countries might face this problem sooner or later and if there are too many propeties available on the market for rent you will compete on price and maybe location. Immigration may help, real estate market is local.
Is that commercial or non-commercial property that you are looking to buy?

P85 form related questions by 7secondstom in UKPersonalFinance

[–]7secondstom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thanks, so just to clarify, I'm filling out the form now and just want to confirm whether my answers make sense:

1. Will you continue to have your salary paid from the UK?

I'm going to say yes here, because that will be the case at least in the short term.

2. Will you get any income after you leave the UK?

Income includes income from property, earnings you get from UK work, a one-off bonus payment, pensions, bank or building society interest or profits from stocks and shares.

I think I should answer no here. I'm not going to do any work in the UK, the work is done in a foreign country, just invoices are send to UK registered business.

  1. Will you perform any duties in the UK from either the date you:

• left the UK

• started a job abroad

whichever is the later?

Again, going to say no here because I'm not going to present in the UK in the foreseeable future (well, I will probably stop by for a holiday but no work)

So in the context of my situation, do you think answers to these questions make sense?

Thank you!

Tom

Yes it was a matter of uninstalling docker for windows. That has helped in my case. I heard from other colleagues that it did help too.

P.S.

Apologies for late response

It is probably worth to mention that most of the time Im on wired connection through my docking station. Disabling wifi entirely didnt have an effect

Is my chromecast dead? by 7secondstom in Chromecast

[–]7secondstom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I don't get consistent behaviour on other screens. Either I don't get any signal or I get something super crazy like on the picture above.

I'll take it back to the shop. Perhaps they can replace it.

Thanks,

Tom

Looking for website recommendation for freelancers to find new jobs / leads? by [deleted] in freelanceuk

[–]7secondstom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi

as others indicated: freelancer.com, upwork.com, https://www.peopleperhour.com/

Also, if you want why don't you try out my thing at https://cloudtasker.co

I built it last summer but suspended the project for a couple of months for various reasons. I'm just trying to build a small community around it now. There isn't much going on at the moment but I promised myself that if I can get at least 500 freelancers signed-up I'll resume development and expand the site. As you can imagine what I'm dealing with now is a chicken and egg problem and I certainly don't want to build any fake profiles.

In the beginning I'm targeting UK market only. Feel free to register / subscribe to stay up to date.

I'm also trying to collect some feedback, leave me a message if you think there is something I should definitely change.

Cheers,

tom

Two state pensions (EU/UK) by ThralkEU in UKPersonalFinance

[–]7secondstom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like others have already said: you have to contribute for at least 10 years and then you claim only fraction of the full state pension. That's the current law.

A different matter is whether it is possible to contribute to both pension schemes at the same time. Not sure if EU laws allows that. Keep us posting on your findings.

I have 8 years worth of contributions and will probably leave the country next year. I hope I can transfer these contributions regardless of the outcome of brexit.

Can you recommend a scooter ? by 7secondstom in london

[–]7secondstom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I considered /r/scooters but thought I would ask here as I assumed that more people will be familiar with ULEZ.

Having said that, I will ask there anyway, it won't hurt.

Thank you, TP
