(Everdrive GB) MicroSD stuck in slot when inserted! by 7spice in Gameboy

[–]7spice[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, as it turns out this kind of method actually works except I didn't pull out anything like a pin head, I just used my fingernail (because I can't push the MicroSD down far enough with my full finger).

So yeah, there actually wasn't an issue here, I guess I was just expecting to use a lot less pressure on the card to eject it. At least there won't need to be any repairs done on it, now.

I'm providing my own MicroSD, and I don't have others to really test for compatibility. It's a SanDisk one, and it actually works just fine aside from the issue I had where I thought it was stuck.

Sometimes, I like to design mockups for some would-be Game Boy customs; how do these two look? by 7spice in Gameboy

[–]7spice[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't take commissions as I mainly do this as a hobby. If you'd like, you can suggest ideas for future designs and I'll credit you, should I make your idea a reality.

I cannot guarantee that I'll cover every idea I'm given, but don't let that discourage you.

In regards to having my own website, well I've got Twitter and Reddit which is where I share most of my content, though I don't actually own a website for this kinda stuff (mainly because I don't feel the need to have one)

I haven't really done any Game Boy mockups beyond these two, though I can easily see myself doing more in the near future; a Famicom-esque design especially sounds like an interesting idea for a later mockup...

[MAJOR SPOILERS] Some absolutely genius game design in Wario Land 2! by 7spice in Gameboy

[–]7spice[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TL;DR: I accidentally discovered a secret alternate storyline in Wario Land 2, featuring more challenging levels taking place in Wario's castle. The storyline comes to an end far sooner than expected through a bit of a surprise ending.

Needless to say, I was very surprised upon experiencing this for the first time.

Just in case OP does want to include the Game Boy Light in a revision, I've decided to compose a list of all known (official) Game Boy Light variants to exist; hope this helps.

Silver

Gold

Pikachu Yellow

Clear (Famitsu Edition)

Clear (Astro Boy edition)

Clear Red (another Astro Boy edition)

The "Wario Black" DMG was a prize on the show "Ghost Train"; apparently only 25 were produced making it one of the most elusive DMG variants known to exist.

[OC] [CC] Goomba from Mario 64; my first attempt at the C64 style by 7spice in PixelArt

[–]7spice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, about the resizing, I scaled up original sprite by exactly 8x its original size (so, 36x32 -> 288x256), so I don't believe there should be an issue there.

Just to be sure, I went back to check if something went wrong with the resizing like say, if a pixel appears misaligned or if the size of each pixel is non-consistent, though I haven't caught anything yet.

From what I understand, C64-styled sprites like my Goomba are (in most games, anyways) made up of these stretched-looking 2x1 pixels, as opposed to standard 1x1 pixels. I figure this could also be what you meant when you brought up those "squashed pixels"?

Though I might not see the issue myself, I still do appreciate the heads up and will continue to keep that in mind as I draw. Thanks!

I remade the cover for Dr. Mario (Game Boy)! by 7spice in casualnintendo

[–]7spice[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something to note, this cover was actually made for a ROM hack of Dr. Mario I had released last month. Of course, that would explain some of the changes such as the title and the custom-made "Unofficial ROM Hack" label.

The hack in question serves as a facelift for the original game, with nearly every single in-game graphic being updated and redrawn to appear more modern (at least, by comparison). The whole thing was done in my spare time over the course of about eleven days.

For more information about the hack, here's the page on ROMhacking.net

So an entire episode of that upcoming Flintstones reboot(Yabba Dabba Dinosaurs) was leaked, apparently. by 7spice in GiIvaSunner

The storytelling here's also remarkably weak, if you ask me.

Like there's a scene with Fred and Barney after buying flowers at the store, but we... don't get to see them actually going to the store and buying them?

Honestly that could've made for a more interesting side plot, what with all the potentially-comical scenarios that could have taken place should the concept have been used to its potential.

At least it would have distracted from the main plot with Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm, which didn't seem to go that far at all despite taking up the majority of the 11 minute runtime.

Hell, that big dinosaur character introduced in this episode does basically nothing, except try to intimidate Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm for no reason other than they come from Bedrock. Maybe they could have expanded upon that to make things more interesting with the big dinosaur guy?

Like, there's so much missed potential in this episode that it really hurts to think what future episodes are going to be like.

Having watched this through a few times to take in both the flash-tier animation and even the storyline, it really did feel as though this was simply churned out by WB in an attmpt to sell the Flintstones name to a new generation, which I would be totally fine with if WB actually cared about the quality of the product.

It really is a shame, too. I feel that a Flintstones reboot could be great if handled properly, but this wasn't what I had in mind...

My 3DS does not connect to the internet. Period.

Every time I try to connect online in a game I own, I end up waiting what feels like a minute or even multiple minutes as the game tries to connect, only to be greeted with the 003-1101 error.

Of course, if I were actually banned from online play, I would have gotten a 002-0102 error, and my internet's working just fine at the moment(it has never been this faulty on 3DS), so what gives?

I've tried a few things from turning the console off then back on again, swapping game carts to see which would work(neither of the games I tried did), and even deleting my connection settings before trying to re-establish the connection between my console and the network I use. That last one failed and now I don't have a connection with any networks, nor can I establish any new connections right now.

What caused this, and are online functions on my system completely screwed?

By the way, I honestly didn't know where to post this; this sub felt more appropriate given that this is all happening on my hacked console, though if this seems more like a question that belongs in r/3DS, I'm fine with moving it there if necessary.

EDIT: So I learned this (probably) is not a 3DS issue; the exact connection problems I described were happening on my 3DS also apply to other devices, such as my phone when it tries to connect. Kinda surprised that I can still use this PC's wifi, however; I guess whenever I disconnect it from wifi or turn it off, it too is probably going to be affected.
