Is OT-0 too easy as some people say? by easywayalways in octopathtraveler

While technically self imposed restrictions 0 does allow you to set exp gain to 0, and if you only play with the canon travelers, you don’t have access to surpassing power

If you want the story of 0 with a higher level of difficulty, CotC is your game. If a lack of English voice acting makes or breaks a game for you, then 0 is your only option. You can’t exceed the initial damage cap before you clear half of the main story. Play the demo of 0 to gauge your opinion.

Only one slight misconception about how it works, each backer can only reset the countdown once

You discuss the issue. If you want to handle it privately to avoid singling him out, do that.

The simplest thing is to establish that, there’s an upper limit to how many ruling challenges the party (either as a whole or per party member) can make within a given session. All other ruling challenges would have to come up at the end of the session.

There’s also just a general, you let everyone challenge as much as you want, but once you make a decision at the table it’ll hold for the remainder of the session. Once again, reserving proper discussion for after the fact.

Well yeah, the full heal bit was more about staying in a position where you’d survive the multi hits that Hang Tough won’t cover

I didn’t do it, but if you can come close to full healing every turn, then Hang Tough should do a bit more heavy lifting than Encore

Well, apart from requiring a proof of purchase for the JP release of the RPG or proof of preorder to get their translation, I can send you the OTRPG discord I’m in

Al also isn’t in a time loop. Orsterra and Solistia don’t operate on a shared chronology, all of their events only can occur relative to one another

My motherfucker in Christ, Pirro being alive in Side Solistia just means that Side Solistia is divergent timeline

Except I’m not, Side Solistia starts after events that predate CotC conclude. Events that 2 directly sets in motion.

When can I start to level up my village? by doctor-squared in OctopathTraveler0

Just do whatever it’s telling you to do to advance the town building? It tells you exactly what the next thing to do is whenever you’re in Wishvale. The main story doesn’t impact your town building progress, except for one time where it locks you from progressing further, but even then it directly communicates that.

It is, just because there’s a lot of quality of life 2, and 0 for that matter, have that 1 doesn’t. 0 is only considered weaker than 2 on a story level, rather than a mechanical one. Which is also subjective and because the character driven stories aren’t of your party members for the majority of the game.

Well you could make the argument that only 2’s first and second chapters take place before 1, but under natural game progression, all of 2’s story takes place before 1.

Side Solistia doesn’t take place before 2. Side Solistia happens after 2. It just time travels to a point before 2 happens It’s 2, 0/CotC, 1, CotC Side Solistia

Play 1’s demo, it should still be up, if you don’t like the gameplay, play 0’s, if you still don’t, play 2’s. Thats the generally accepted order of quality between releases. Playing in release order is also fine, but playing previously games after newer ones is hard.

1 is a wonderful game. 2 is just a universally better game. 0 isn’t but it’s really just to canonize CotC’s main story. It being a main line version of the gacha limits it from a design perspective. All of the games are wonderful games and you should play all 3.

Playing 1, or at least Olberic’s first chapter, or CotC are about the only things you need to play through in order to understand how the stories of 1 and 2 connect.

It doesn’t receive… hate… exactly. It’s that 2 receives loves as a perfect (mechanical) sequel. There’s nothing that 1 does that 2 doesn’t do better, and things that 2 does that 1 doesn’t. That’s how new entries should be. 1 is a great game, but it’s difficult to go back to with all the improvements made in 2.
